Dear all,

I am in desperate need of help...it seems like the 7750 is running very weirdly...

when the dial is facing downwards, rotor facing up, the movement runs smoothly without any hiccups..

as soon as i close the caseback on my 25a and turn it dial facing up, the movement stops...at first i thought that the watch was not fully wounded so i left it in my watch winder for a day..the movement did not move at all..

is there something loose in the movement.???? Appreciate if anyone can share their experience or knowledge on this..the only mod that was done to it was the Datewheel by Takashi..prior to receiving it from DSN, this was not an issue at all..not too sure why it is like that now..

i am very frustrated at this..only got the watch for about a week or so...and my first watch with the 7750..

:(

It could be the rotor is rubbing against the caseback

quick question...i noticed that the dial is a lil loose at one of the feet..would this make the movement stop if it happened to rub against any part of the movement?

If you bought it from a dealer send it back. If you've bought it second hand then send it for a full service.

The 7750 has a history of problems. I have owned a dozen or so, and they have almost always been a bit of a dilemma, however, they are servicable, only that costs and can be a pain. It seems that the simple movements like the 6497 run like that pink bunny. When you get the complications, the work overload is to much. One thing, don't run the chrono function all the time. This causes wear.

The A7750s in Panerai are usually pretty reliable, however, since they are stripped down to only have the running seconds at 9 and none of the other pieces for the rest of the chrono.

I don't think sending it back to DSN to fix/repair is very fair, since it has been modded/worked on by other people since it left him. I would suggest getting it diagnosed by a watchmaker and then proceed once you know what the problem is and the likely cause of it.

justlounging, the dial is probaly not flushed against the movement, this happens sometimes. Or the balance wheel might be slightly damaged,( I am only guessing, the best way would to be showing us some pictures.)

check if the seconds hand is touching the dial...

if not... return it...

good luck.

Thanks for all the replies...and sorry for the apologies for not posting up the video yet..i am unfamiliar with uploading a vid..i will try to upload on youtube and then put a link into the forum..

I have sent the watch to Takashi for him to have a look at the Date Wheel and also the movement..

For the first 3 days of receiving it from DSN, it worked perfectly, keeping very accurate time. I passed to Taka after that for the DW and Crown mods..after which the stopping happened..

hope it is a simple fix which can be solved by servicing..

on a similiar note, if i have the option to get a Eta 7750 to replace the a7750, should i?

servicing would set back me at least US$100 (?) and getting the eta maybe abt US$300 (?)..

thanks all..

Oh my goodness...my 7750 just stopped on me again..after 3 days of getting it back from Taka, it just stopped...not sure why..did not do anything to the watch...tried winding the crown as well as gently shaking it...nothing is moving...

:(

2 movements dying in 3 days..this is damn freaking depressing...arghhhh!!

Was taka able to diagnose the problem with the original movement?

well according to taka, he said he changed the DW as well the escape wheel..he somehow managed to get it running again but 3 days after i got it from him..got it only this Wed..and 3 days after, it just stopped, despite me wearing for 2 days in a row..

*edit: the seconds hand came out when i was 'swirling' the watch around in my futile attempt to start the movement...this is really depressing..2 movements in 2 days.. :( i should have never started on 7750 movements..

@ hooligan: i have PM-ed you..

@alvinado: i understand this happens but the action (of lack thereof) after is what makes it frustrating..

taka has definitely been patient and helping me along the way but i cant say that of DSN..it's the complete opposite..and a disappointment..
