i was wondering if folks that have panerais in either or both sizes of 40 and 44 would mind posting some pics with them on their wrists. there's so many choices i can't make my mind up... i think a 40 is gonna be too small for me. i have a 9 inch wrist. but i've never really seen in person any different sizes so i thought maybe some folks that like to take pics could post some side by side shots with them either on or off their wrist. also, what are the stainless rep bracelets like for pans

now if ya happen to have a amerigo vespucci to show off i wouldn't mind.... :)

thanks

don't go there with the ladies comments... anyways. I have a 45mm on a 7" wrist and it looks fine. I can't imagine a <40mm on a 9"wrist. get the 44

Definitely go with 44mm. I have a 6.5" wrist and owned both. Even for me the 40mm seemed small at times. IMHO, a PAM is the sort of watch that should dominate your wrist. I wore a 40mm with long-sleeve shirts or when I felt like being subtle. For your wrist size, 44mm should be a no-brainer.

Not to discredit you, but are you absolutely certain you have a nine inch wrist? I have made a lot of straps and people say "yeah I got a 8" wrist" and I ask them to measure again, and they come back and say it's more like 7", which is a huge difference. A nine inch wrist is truly unheard of for me.

How are you measuring your wrist?

I spent a lifetime being used to small watches. Thus the new big ones were a bit of a surprise and I rather doubted whether my 7 inch wrist would hold a 44mm watch. Now I can't really imagine going back to something small--though I still have a hankering for a gen. J le C Reverso. It's all about a 'look' and what you are comfortable with. With wrists the size of yours a 44m will certainly not be too big.

unless my two tape measure are wrong, and i don't think they are... my left wrist is 8.75 inches around just below the wrist bone and about 9 inches a little loose. my right wrist is a tad over 9 inces tight.

if i go to a jewelers and look at watches they never have anything that will even go over my hand in stainless without extra links. i used to be a professional heavyweight boxer and i think using your hands as clubs makes your hands a little bigger. i have the same problem buying dress shirts with a 21 inch neck and sometimes the cuffs are too tight. if i'd loose some weight my neck would probably go down but my wrists are pretty hard :--)

but yep.... 9 inches a tad loose is about right and 8.75 is tight. i used both a cloth seamstres style tape and also my sears cartridge type metal one and they come out the same. i also measured the closed inside diameter of the watch i wear everyday and it comes out at 9 inches. my 6'1'' 225 pound sonwho is a good size guy on the same tape measure is 7.25

so you're saying i'm probably gonna have a hard time finding an alligator strap that will fit me? how big do they come standard? do they come in different sizes or what.

now i'm gonna become self-conscious ablut my oversized wrists..... :(

Yes, unless you go custom made, you will not find a strap that will fit you. Nine inches is truly unheard of for me. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist, just that in over 300+ straps I have never had a nine inch wrist customer.

I have friends who are big guys as well (NFL linemen) and the largest I have ever seen is an eight inch wrist.

To answer your first question though I would not go smaller than a 44mm. With a 9 inch wrist, a fiddy (47mm) will look smaller than normal.

I agree with tootall, given your enormous wrist size, give 40mm PAM a miss. It will look funny on your wrist. Do consider getting PAM127 the Fiddy. This will fit you very well. Or give Breitling Super Avenger a try too... You need extra links though.

Indeed you won't find straps on normal market. You need to go custom made ;)

You might even need a waist belt. Anything over 8.5 is Gynormous! On a positive note you can pretty much name your look for the custom strap. Good luck big guy! :D

i'll definitely try a different tape to make sure i don't ever order the wrong size strap, but i know my hands and wrists are bigger than normal. i have a friend who is a nose tackle in the nfl right now and my hands and wrists are bigger than his cause he tried my watch on once and commented it was too big on him.

i always just accept that my right wrist is even bigger because i've had it operated on 6 times but no surgeries or anything on my left one. how much does does an alligator strap normally cost and how much extra do you think i'm gonna have to pay if you might have an idea and don't mind my asking

Well price all depends on whom you go with. There are some makers who might be able to make you one for around $150 in the size you need. And the ceiling is the limit from there. Most of the problem lies in that Gator/Croc hides don't have a lot of space to work with, and so with the longer sizes you will need a more expensive/larger hide.

You need 44, maybe 47, with those meat hooks! Take a look at the PAM 187, it is fantastic. My favorite, and it will fit nicely on you.

now everybodys got me wondering if i measure right. so i took a dar and driver magazine and ripped a page out. comes to 10 3/8. wrapped it around my wrist and measured the excess. it was 1 3/8 inch. cut the excess off and wrapped it around my wrist. yep, it fit just snug at about 9 inches.

so if anyone knows what the size of a standard size magazine page is let me know if i'm right on.

i was just telling a friend that with 9 inch wrists and a 21 inch neck maybe at least people won't pick on me... he told me ''nah, that won't work... your wife and friends, we all pick on you all the time...''

:)

by the way.... i'm not sure what you mean about not finding alligator hides big enough? when i used to wrestle them they were all over 12-14 feet long. and the crocks were even bigger than that. i admit i had quite a bit more trouble tossing the crocks around.....
