want to add a Daylight Pam to my PAMILY specifically the Pam Daylight models. Cannot decide between 251 or 188

i will be most appreciative on suggestions and advice from Panerai and RWI experts in this watch brand. please also include why you suggest one model over the other.

thank you,

Days of good and decent Daylight chrono reps are long gone now.
Save your pennies for a nice mech Pam, as H_U suggested.

Alternatively if you can find one of old-school 188/196 ETA7753 powered Daylights on the rep boards, by all means go for it! Expect to pay premium on one of those, though.

The 2 experts above have said well, manual wind is the way to go for the pams.

But if you're certain about getting a daylight, what color dials do you prefer?

I used to have a fully modded Pam188.

ETA7753 fully modded with gen cg. Long gone, miss it sometimes but need to thin the herd!!

be prepared to pay if you are after one of these gems.

As taste changes ever so frequently, I would go for a black daylight now, the new version without the big numerals on the dial.

Big mistake selling that one...but considering the mega-$$ you got for it, I'm not surprised.

LOL!!

Yes it was really tempting back then when i had to free the funds for something more important than watches!!

Do miss it but can't justify it sitting the box most times.

IMO, depends on what you're after. If you really like the Daylights, don't want to spend too much, want an auto, and are ok with a few minor flaws, then do get a PAM250 with 7750 or something like that. Frankly, if you like the look of them and don't care about the one in a thousand chance of someone pointing at it in scorn screaming "aaahh check out that recessed date wheel", it's fine.

I don't think we're all always after the most accurate or solid rep... Sometimes when you like the look of a watch, it's an emotional rather than a rational purchase. You know you shouldn't pull the trigger... but you do nonetheless. Quite a while ago I got myself a Daylight with 7750, and actually it's a nice watch. I installed a Lello DW and who knows, I may even relume the thing and throw an AR job at it... In the end they're just toys. And if they're perfect out of the box, where's the fun?

I also have an old case 196 and I'm casually looking for a 7753 for it... If anyone can help, let me know.

that's right this is just a hobby and i definitely am not one that labors over the fine details i just buy them for having a good replica at a decent price of the gen. the fun for me is that.

i prefer the 188 but will do more research and reading before pulling the trigger for a purchase, wife is catching on to my obsession with replicas  :)

ok... but guys, pick me first, pick me first!!!

But seriously, maybe we could get a few of us who are looking for a 7753 and place a bulk order from someone... might save us some dough. I recently got an outrageous quote for a new 7753...
