Got this sweet gen dial from Skydata a while ago. (Thanks again, Skydata!)

Now I'd like to build a replica around it, so it looks like this:

I can find plenty of Evo's on the dealers sites, but no older Chronomat reps. Is there a non-branded watch case like this somewhere? Or maybe a similar homage watch I could canibalize?

Any suggestions?

Unfortunately not at the moment. I guess you will have better luck building modern Chronomat instead.

If you look on theeBay, older chronomats generally go for about $1100-1600. thats about $600 more than what you'd pay to get all theparts to make the watch. Just buy a used chronomat witha really bad dial, and you got your dream watch. Plus it'd be Gen.

Thanks, Fakey!

Now you see the apeal, huh? Granted, it's smaller, case size being around 40mm, dial is only 30mm, but a sweet old watch none the less.

I know there has to be something out there to fit this dial AND a 7750. I just gotta find it.

Please keep your eyes peeled for me. Maybe another Breitling from the Windrider series? Colt chrono rep, Yachting, Callisto, anything with the round pushers. Evo is too big, wrong shape, wrong pushers, etc.

I was thinking of A Tag AR Quartz for a review. The same thing there sizewise. I keep hearing their smaller than the norm. Don't understand why Tag would have done that. Why not just make them all the Same size? Omega doesn't make the SMP in different sizes based on the movement. Of course this is not the same thing.

Different strokes, I guess. Remember, fashion right now, (meaning the last few-10 years or so), is for bigger watches. Not too long ago, everything was small. But to make a modern watch like the AR small, I dunno.

Maybe trying to fill a niche? Seems like a lot of extra tooling to make something that might not sell as well as others.

Well, I think I found the rep I need to make this thing work. It's called a Chronomat GT. Anybody got one, or know where to get one?

Thanks!

*UPDATE*

Stan (WBK) sent me some watches. Couple old quartz Chronomats and a CTI.

Here's a teazer pic. Dial fits the case perfectly. Seems to be enough room for a 7750 in there also, but I'll leave that to rex.

Bezel will have to be changed for either a gen or one of the other bezels above, but it's a start, right?
