Hi all,

Hope you are all doing well. Here is my ZF Tudor black bay 58 which I bought ~5 years ago.

Last year when I was winding it, it broke. I wasn’t able to send it to be fixed anywhere as I was studying abroad but now I am back in the UK. The watch does not wind or I am able to change the time.

I’m not too clued up on how watches work, I have no clue what happened. I assume the best course of action is to change the movement out to a new one?

The other thing that has happened is that one of hour markers has fallen out, most likely happened when in transit from one to another.

Another thing I would like to fix is the bezel. It’s really hard to rotate, and only rotates anticlockwise (I think this is intentional, let me know if it’s supposed to be bidirectional).

The dial isn’t scratched, but the crystal is ;(

Would it be cheaper to just buy a new ZF BB58, or get it fixed. If getting it fixed is the way forward, would anyone be able to point me to someone who would be able to help me?

Thank you all for your help and time, I’ll respond to any questions below.

Hi, i had the same problem with a DJ the last year and it was the connection broken from crown and stem, a link that is part of the crown itself . The watchmaker has replaced the crown and he as solved all . I don’t know if it has changed other parts . I paied € 25 in any case . I hope it can be helpful . Bye .

The movement should be a straightforward fix by any watchmaker. The zf bb 58 uses an asian clone 2824-2, which is highly repairable and replaceable (with another Asian clone movement or a Swiss movement).

The loose marker should also be another straightforward fix by just gluing it back on.

As for the bezel, it should be uni-directional like gen. I haven't taken the bezel apart before, but maybe it is hard to turn because of accumulated debris. I think there is a springy lever inside the bezel assembly which can be bent to increase/decrease the friction (but don't quote me on this because I never took apart the bezel assembly before)

Thank you for the information. I distinctly remember the bezel from the start could only rotate anticlockwise and was rather stiff, so making it unidirectional smoothly would be nice.

I have seen people do movement replacements to either the same movement or to another movement. What movements can this watch use apart from the a2824 movement? Where can I find places to purchase these?

Assuming the whole movement needs replacing the 2824 has a ton of clones, the Sellita SW200 and STP 1-11 are Swiss, there are many Asian varieties of varying quality too. I believe the Seagull ST2130 is one of the better ones but I dont have any experience with it myself.

As far as the bezel goes it's pretty easy to pop off you just need to be careful not to bend it or scratch the midcase. My ZF also has meh bezel action until I took it apart, cleaned it, and reassembled it properly. I dont recall what the bezel assembly looked like but if there was a bezel gasket I definitely hit that with some fresh lubricant too.

Pity you are in the UK, I would have loved to work on this 😅

There are some reputable watchmakers in UK listed here.

Else, Just buy a new one and sell this one for parts

The bezel assembly comprises of a small spring and a ceramic ball if I recall. I took apart mine to refit the insert before.

Getting a 2824 clone might be a cheaper option than servicing it.
the marker will need to be glued back on the dial, should be simple.

check with a local watchsmith and compare the costs. if it’s more expensive than getting a new one, just get a new one!

I've heard good things about @ado213 https://forum.replica-watch.info/threads/ado213-watch-service.10922616/#post-11124065

And Solutions 6 from the Services Forum page.

Good luck
