Hey all, I recently recieved this Omega Skyfall open caseback, everything but the handset....I have been looking to source the appropriate broad arrow hand set, but have been having some difficulties. To be sure I am looking for the correct size hands, I wanted to check with the pro's as to what you believe the movement/handset would be. To my knowledge it looks like 21j, and was looking for a 1.50/1.00/0.17 hand set. Does this seem correct to those more experienced??

Thanks for any assistance! Any info on where to source the hands as well would be much appreciated! Below I have some shots of the movement!

Yes, it's a 21 j. DG2813 or a variant. Hand sizes are hour 1.50, minute 1.0, and sweep second .17 mm

Awesome, thanks for the info @teddy875 I was pretty sure, but wanted to be sure before I put more time and effort into the piece. I have had a heck of a time finding a fitting hand set in style with the watch, so I may end up swapping the entire movement to make things a little simpler. @teddy875 you have any ideas of somewhere to source hands (without having to modify hole sizes) for the 21j broad arrows? I have scoured ofrei, raffles, the bay, cousins...any other ideas?

The usual routes will not work as the hands are rep hands with incorrect size posts vs gen. The best routes are m2m or contacting our trusted dealers. There is a small chance you may stumble across a set on eBay. Is there something wrong with the existing hands?

@teddy875 okay, sounds reasonable. And the issue with the hands is that there are none! Haha. Purchased it broken down

Perhaps pick up a gen set for a model with a 2836 and install a 2836? The dial feet will need modification.

@teddy875 yeah that was my next route of research. May want to swap the caseback to solid? That way it isnt a dead giveaway, although it would only been shown on my wrist.

Personally, I would not worry about the display caseback. You know it's a rep and you therefore should not be pulling it off your wrist to show others. My CrPO has a display caseback and even though it's decorated very nicely, it's completely inaccurate to gen. I like to watch the movement work sometimes, but would never display it as a genuine one to someone outside my friends and family who know it's a rep. Have you placed a WTB as for parts like the hands? You never know, someone may have a dead one sitting around who can help you out.

@teddy875 I always portray mine as a rep mainly because if someone asks if it a rep or gen, they more than likely are into reps and it usually leads to some good conversations. I have not put up a WTB yet, I am pretty sure I will just be swapping in an ETA and getting the gen handset from Ofrei. Will probably make it a bit more sought after if I ever decide to move it out of my collection. I personally dont care for the skyfall dial because I feel like the 007 dial marker is a bit cheesy, but that is just my preference.

Omega used an ETA 2892 movement called a caliber 1120. It's hands are the same size as the 2824/2836 so they would be interchangeable. The issues I see are these, first, the date wheel from the 2813 will not transfer over, so the date wheel could pose a problem, and second, as mentioned, the dial feet and date wheel position may not line up. The dimensions of the 2813 are very similar to a 2836 (25.6x5.05 vs 26x5.62). Basically you are looking for parts for a seamaster 2252.50. I'm not a watchsmith, so my knowledge about things like cutting dial feet, etc is limited. Please keep me posted on your progress and if I stumble across any gen parts, I'll let you know!
