Hello, can you help identify / confirm this Panerai 6497 movement, swan neck with dagger?

Is it Asian or Swiss or 21,600?

Thanks.

(if it's too big to see, try right-clicking and "view image")

it's a very big picture, so if you're having trouble seeing the whole thing, try this:

right-click on the photo select "view image" (this works in firefox)

If you can get a pic with the movement wound down/stopped that will help. But the Incabloc shock system says Asian to me. If the balance wheel has flared spokes, too, it's Asian. At the very least it's one of those Swiss/Asian hybrid movements that vac and other have seen floating around. I think those had Swiss bases and then had the balance assembly and bridges of an Asian movement transplanted onto it.

EDIT -- I just looked at the full picture, stickers for "Officine Panerai" instead of engraved? Asian.

Here's a more Darkside-friendly sized pic:

100% Asian 6497, and according to the size of the balance wheel, 21.6kbph (6497-2) mov't.

Mov't itself retails for some $30-$40, full watch configs with this mov't can be had for as low as $75 these days (see Trevor's offerings in his sale section).

Thanks hooligan and babola...

I thought this was better than Trevor's watches because it has the dagger swan neck. Most of his cheaper watches do not have the swan neck at all.

Also, the big gears have beveled edges, which I thought was only found on the better quality movements...

So in conclusion, does this movement qualify as the New Asian Swan Neck @ 21,600, 6497-2 ?

Thanks!

Yes...and... yes !
BTW, Trevor says price diff between the Asian mov't without S/N and non-beveled gears vs the more decorated one is around $10. So no worries at all.
As I pointed out above, the mov't from your pic is Asian 6497-2 21.6kbph mov't.
DSN had it first, and have been using it for some time now...'master Ziggy' over at RWG loves it... :)

cheers,
