Help! How can I fix my keyless works?

When I pull the crown out on my 026k to set the time, it just winds the watch. It will not go into the time setting mode. I took the caseback off and tried to tighten up the screw, but no matter what I do, the crown will ONLY wind the watch, not allow me to set the time.

So to test it, I took that crown/stem out and I threw a generic crown/stem in there just to narrow down the problem, and that had no problem at all going into the correct mode when you pull the crown out to set the time.

So, since the issue seems to be with my crown/stem (although visually inspecting compared to the stem that worked they appear to be the same) not with the movement, will buying a new 21k movement fix this problem?

If the problem is with the crown/stem and not the movement, what can I do to fix this?

TIA for responses, I'm at a loss how to proceed. Right now my solution is to fully wind the watch every morning to keep it going at the correct time, but eventually I'm not going to be able to do that.

the screw that loosens and tightens the stem into place also goes into the keyless works. if you remove the dial you will see the keyless works there you can see the screw that comes thought and screws into the set lever. if you loosen the screw to much it will come out from the lever and the lover can pop off.

i suggest sending it to katt or GM to have it worked on.

its most likey from the screw coming loose as described above. its a 5 minute fix but unless you have the tools to fix it you can easly scratch the dial and hands.

here are a few macro shots i took from francisco- thanks

here you can see the screw that loosens the stem.

on this pic you can see in the bottom left is the set lever for the keyless works. there is a screw. its on the faaar left near the rim of the movement. this is the screw that usually comes out and keeps you from setting the time.

Since you didn´t have the problem with another stem it seems the stem on your 026 is too short. So get another one, cut it careful to the required length and everything should be fine then.
I don´t think there is any problem with the keyless works.....just the stem.
