I just have one bezel on the way from trustytime. I don't have a picture yet, but it is the same as on this watch: http://www.yourtrustytime.com/index...d=6579&zenid=73a505723e13941421bbb04b4bba0f98

Even though andrew is not a trusted dealer here, he was really helpful and very quick with responses. Also he is in good standing with other forums.

The bezel is not on the really cheap side but it seems one of the nicest I have seen.

Smurf blue ceramic bezel

Also interested to change my smurf bezel!

Want to get a new one, or a DIFFERENT one?

If you want a new one, 'cause your old one is broken or something, try asking Mary from watch international (TD in the other rep fora). Got mine from her, and she's a charm to do business with anyhoo ;) (If I was not in EU and needed triangle shipment via UK - which she doesn't offer unfortunately - no doubt she'd be my no. 1 dealer choice)

i think (and hope) that the pearl is fairly flush with the metal ring. As far as i know is the gen pearl domed but below the metal ring around it (i hope you get what i mean?!) and i didn't see a rep achieving this effect. You'll either get flat or well domed over the metal ring.

But i looked more for the correct shape and position of the ring as you can trim/rebuild the pearl fairly easy.

AFAIK there's THREE recent bezel insert versions worth mentioning:

1) for lack of a better term, the "noob" version, with the characteristic round top triangle. May have a decent enough pearl; depends on luck of draw. Most dealers carry those DSSD, and I doubt it is a problem to get such a bezel insert. But IMHO this triangle is so far away from the gen look, that it is a deal breaker. Plus, numbers / engravings are still too thin and not deep enough, all the more if not modded. It is obvious on first glance compared with gen IMHO. Example: http://www.puretimewatch.com/product/sea-dweller-deepsea-116600-11-a3135-best-edition-correct-10/

2) the "trevor" bezel insert. You ask me, all in all it's the better insert. Flat top triangle; resembles the gen triangle much better than above version, although gen triangle is in a league of its own, it is not really flat top and not really round top, it is somewhere inbetween. It is a little wider than trevor's, and a little narrower than the noob version's triangle. And the gen pearl....my oh my . Trevor insert's pearl is a bit over the top, it is too large, too white, and it is flat. So, noob pearl tends to be a bit better IMO. Nevertheless, trevor insert's got pretty deep, fat, crisp, white engravings. Nothing comes really close to gen, but it is better than above mentioned noob version. You get the bezel from Trevor, no problem. Example: http://www.puretimewatch.com/product/sea-dweller-deepsea-116600-v7-a2836/

3) king watch special DSSD, with pearl mod. http://kingshowbox.com/goods.php?id=4463. You ask me: Bloody fan-fücking-tastic! Insert looks a lot like trevors version on first glance, but I assure you the pearl is not, because I got it myself, and I also have a spare trevor insert lying around to compare :) IMHO it is the best rep insert & pearl I've seen so far (apart from Darth Alex' great pearl mods ;) ). The pearl is translucent in a way, and does not look like a zit of epoxy, or white plastic. It kinda looks like a real pearl (even though gen's not a real pearl either ;)) Here's a pic: (Sorry for the blurry image, but I don't have a cam here, and my Blackberry sucks big hairy balls when it comes to photos...but I hope you can catch the essential looks of this kingwatch pearl/insert):

Oh, and I think on Watch Eden's website they had some promising looking inserts in some of their DSSDs - but I'm more than unsure that dealing with them will pay of in what you envision. At least, I haven't seen anybody around here showing off with a WE DSSD as to how cool his/her bezel insert was.......go figure ;)

Really dunno - why not drop Connie a line? IMO she's a decent dealer, too (TD on at least some of the other fora, and I had a couple smooth deals with her)

The problem with Kings insert is that if you have a BKDSSD the insert is smaller in diameter.I have installed on in my BKDSSD and it is about 0,5mm smaller and has a gap between the bezel and the insert.Other than that it has better engaving and the pearl looks way better that my BK one.

Maybe I should share more details about my DSSD/inserts:

Actually, my DSSD is from MBK market in Bangkok, FEB 2011: Swiss ETA, 25J, 28.800 BPH, "triple AAA+" etc. It is a bloody fantastic, almost flawless piece, if nothing else because I personally handpicked it out of over a dozen DSSDs from several dealers @MBK, and in the end I made one watch out of three, by assembling bracelet from watch A, clasp from watch B and watchhead from watch C...

I'd guess it is a noob DSSD, because it had the insert with the round triangle top and the thin numbers/engravings installed, which was the single most painful tell on my watch even from a distance on a wrist, and it always bugged me like hell.

Over time, I sourced 2 Trevor inserts, plus the above said Kingwatch DSSD with the special pearl modded insert.

I ended up using the Kingwatch insert on my MBK DSSD, put the Trevor insert into the Kingwatch DSSD, and gave the Kingwatch DSSD to a colleague of mine, because Kingwatch's DSSD was an OK rep, but my trusty ol' MBK DSSD was far superior - apart from the insert, which was top notch on Kingwatch's DSSD.

With my watch, there is no 0,5mm gap between insert and bezel. AFAIK BK also uses the same noob DSSDs as base for his mods? In fact, the Kingwatch insert doesn't sit in my noob bezel tight as a nun, but still flush. At the moment, it sits a wee bit higher than the old insert, but this is only due to fixing it on the bezel with two-side adhesive tape pieces, instead of glueing it in.

The Trevor insert indeed sat higher in the Kingwatch DSSD and had a wee bit more play in the bezel (nowhere 0,5 mm though!) - what nobody but us watch nerds will ever notice BTW, once it is glued in...

I guess all of that is pretty much luck of the draw, given the quite high manufacturing tolerances on these watches, from production run to production run, generation to generation etc.

Con grats seems Nice. Good luck with the projekt

Thanks, will attempt to install it tomorrow but with the guides I found here, it shouldn't be a problem.

I will post the end result then.

Did you order/get your bezel already?

That's what I called the "Trevor-insert" 'cause AFAIK Trevor came up with it first, quite a while back. It has the slightly too big knob of a pearl with a white-plastic-like pearl material, that is almost flat on top.

Still looks very nice once installed, much nicer than the standard noob insert, and you ask me also much more like the real deal, due to the better engravings and the flat top triangle.

REALLY don't intend to dump on your insert, just for the sake of being transparent here: Connie's "pearl mod insert" - for lack of a better term - has a different pearl: more "pearlish", overall smaller, looks more like gen.

Would be interesting if Connie sells her insert only....?

etc.
