Help. Dropped my 112.

My 112 fell today from my wrist onto my hardwood floors. It stopped.

I gave it a wind and hoped that it would start again, but it hasn't. When I pull the pin out all the way to set the time, it starts up for a few seconds and then just dies out again when I lock the CG down.

In your expert opinions... could it be repaired at home? Or am I visiting my watchsmith?

Thanks in advance!

duct tape wrapped in a ball... sticky side out. Use ball to unscrew caseback.

Once caseback is off... look to see if there is anything loose.

I occasionally will knock my 6497 movements to the point where they stop running... I take out the movement, pull the hands, remove the dial, and reseat the hour pinion.

This has always done the trick for me. Maybe if you're lucky, one of the screws is loose... like for eg. the screw holding the balance..

If you think yourself technically capable of dismantling the watch, go ahead. But I would recommend letting the experts do it for you, even just this once. You can watch if the watchsmith is near you so you can learn. Hope you get it fixed.

I think i'm capable, what scares me is opening it up and realizing that I don't have the appropriate tools, etc. I think I'm just going to try my local guy first and see what he says. Thanks for the help everyone!

sounds like the balance wheel shock mech didn't reset after the drop-the jewel lets the balance wheel pivot move and under normal conditions it returns back...sounds like yours didn't. you could always try to reset it BUT you could mess it up even more--if it were mine i would rap it a couple times against the palm of your hand to see if it resets but it may need a pro
