I just picked up a couple of Davidsen's Mod-Dep buckles, and was trying to figure out the best way to "age" them, besides sandpaper.

I thought the coloring of the lettering looked a little too new, and was wondering what i could use to give the buckles a better look. A mild acid bath crossed my mind, or maybe taking the paint out of the letters? Perhaps amild white wash effect to the lettering would help, hmm.. I'm not really sure. Has anyone had any luck making these look old?

Here's a pic from Davidsen (hope he dosen't mind)

I haven't tried this but I read someone aged paint fill by brushing on some chlorine bleach and letting it set for a couple hours before rinsing. Might be worth a shot, shouldn't hurt the metal at all

Not to be rude but you are better off not trying to do this at all. From what I gather the lettering is actually laser marked which is totally different from engraved. Also the sides are far too fat to look accurate to vintage GPF buckles. I included two pictures, both are regarded as genuine. The second one is closer to the Davidsen but that is the only pic I could find of that style. Plus you can see how the sides are much thinner and the top corners are much more radial. All the other photos I can find look more like the first picture.

So sad to say, but the chances of vintage-izing a Davidsen buckle are slim. Especially if he used a good laser marker. Good laser markings are near impossible to remove/edit. Pm me if you have any questions, I have looked into the GPF buckles pretty extensively. LOL, but still FAR from enzo level.
