I'm doing this rather backwards: posting a couple of questions, then introducing myself! Anyway, I've liked watches since I was a kid but got discouraged because I was never in a position to buy what I really wanted--some Swiss automatic jewel. I still can't justify thousands of dollars, but the reps now seem so good that I'm going to take the plunge. So far the Bell and Ross Instrumetn series has caught my eye and I look froward to the day when the olive drab one is available. I'm a history prof at on e of the local universities here, and have been for 20-odd years. Looking forward to getting to know you all a bit better and I've so far been very impressed with the thoughful and intelligent answers to my questions. I do have a couple more, one reassonable, the second will probably set eyes rolling, but hey, I'm a newbie........
1) What do people think of the Asian automatic movements offered in the 42mm B&R Instrument series, and
2) I see people refer to PAM as if it is a watch type or something. What the heck is it.
Cheers, Thor

Welcome from Toronto.... 8)

The asian automatic movements are common and fine,i have bought lots of watches with them and have had issues only with a 'seconds at 6' daytona, which is common,a watch to avoid imo (do a search using the search function)...the rest are all good.... :)

Pam is short for 'Panerai Model',it is always accompanied by a number....Pam 005,Pam 127 etc...,Panerai model numbers...check out the Panerai subforum, might wonder what all the 'fuss' is about as did i when i first joined, but they grow on ya....

Enjoy the forum....

Welcome! Vancouver is a beautiful city... I miss it.

B&R 42mm Asian is quite accurate watch. I own a 46mm, but I wish I waited and bought the 92-03 with blue markers.

Thanks all: that's heartening news about the Asian movement for the B&R. And thanks for the info on PAM. I like them.
