I have a story which is probably similar to others. I recently returned for NYC with the obligatory $30 Rolex I started thinking there must be better replicas out there. After a bit of googling I came across the usual scam sites. I was initially impressed by the review sites I gave into my nagging doubts of "where are the forums" and found this site, RWG and RepGeek.

After doing a bit of research I've ordered a Omega SMP but if all goes well it won't be the last. I am starting to build up a wish list, strategies for explaining to the other half why I have multiple watches, obsession with finding the perfect sub etc.

Nice intro, abat. Well-written, and yet concise as to objectives.

Welcome from a fellow Brit, now expat in America. ;)

Thanks for the welcome

Thanks for the welcome guys. Another symptom I seem to have developed is starring at people's wrists. Was in a meeting today with a guy wearing a SMP (Quartz though) and some kind of IWC Chrono I couldn't quite see :)

Hi abat, this is one seriously addictive hobby.

I am guilty of a bit of wrist staring myself.

You know you're in trouble when you get things thrown at you while watching a film just for naming the watch on the movie star's wrist :D

Glad to have you here and glad you did not get scammed on you way here, now run, while you still have some money and sense left.

I have that very same problem Abat, i spend half my day looking at other peoples wrist's and the other half wondering if they've noticed the rather lovely Broadarrow i'm wearing - welcome to obsession.

Sod's Law

Well my SMP has ben delivered but Sod's Law dictates it arrived on the day I am away, not back until tomorrow night. So photos will have to wait until I get home tomorrow although I do have some really bad ones I've made my other half take on her camera phone so I can see my new baby. Can't see anything on these except confirm it does indeed have the marker at 3 which I have seen some recent reps missing.

Well I got it!

Got home and got my hands on my first rep and I have to say I am stunned by the quality of the watch. I'm not entirely sure what I was expecting but the SMP is stunning. I know it has flaws but even knowing this is really is an awesome watch. I had a bit of hassle with on of the bracelet screws (I know they're not accurate!) but other than that it's been great. I've had a go at some photos without much success, I'll post one of these dodgy set in the ey candy section and have another go at taking some betters ones tomorrow.
