Having issues with my PAM 688

New to Panerai, so my issue may be just a newbie issue, but I've recently purchased a 688 of my usual supplier.

Have never had issues with past clones Ive bought off him, except as for now. The sub dial second hand is not working. No matter how many times I go to wind the crown, it does nothing. The power reserve on the back has actually lost reserve from me winding it.

I am not sure which factory it is from, though I don't believe many have rep'd this model. Is there a specific way I should be winding it? He told me that he checked it before delivery and worked perfectly, and again he has never done me wrong in the years we've been working together.

I'd hate to imagine this is a DOA situation, and have to spend the money to send it back because of a lack in knowledge on my part, but st this point, NOTHING seems to be working. He is willing to resolve the issue and replace it, just as I said, I'd hate to have to go threw all of this again.

If you wind it and it does not move, it is broken. No matter which factory does it come from. You can either send it back or have a local watchsmith have a look at it. Its unfortunate even it happens but it's not the end of the world :)

Darn, was hoping that wasn't the case. Would a local war h Smith be willing to work on a replicated Panerai though?

Pics would help....is it running? Hour and minutehand?...could be the tube of the hand has come out a little of the wheel pivot or something is wrong with the gear...depends on if the other hands function correct to determine what the problem is...if in Holland you can come buy so we can have a look

I will upload pics below, but to what I'm seeing no, neither the hour, minute, or seconds hands are working. My fingers are raw from how much I've wound the crown. And sadly I am in the United States. Looks as if I will have to call around to a few local war h Smith's and ask of they will work on rep Panerai.

***UPDATE****

no luck with uploading photos as of right now, will look into uploading them to another site and sharing them here.

with that said, I've had luck with contacting a local watch repair service who are not only authorized to work on Panerai and are local, but are also more than happy to repair even a replicated Pam!

Will be meeting with them in the next few days to see what the issue is, and fingers are crossed that the repair does not cost the same as the watch itself did, though to myself it will be worth every penny, as this watch has won me over on its beauty and simplicity.

Will update within the next few days to share the diagnosis.

Mate, lets say that Skoda is a replicated VW. Do you think that its service will cost less than the original?
Please don't give them hard time. They will handle a great amount of risk, just to have a look on your watch.
They clearly like watches and want to help you. You will be a customer of them and probably they will honor that.

If there was a gen, every part of its' movement could be installed back like they used to. Now that it's not, they maybe have to
deal with small imperfections and from "watch smiths" work as "watch makers" just to have you, their customer happy.

Please see the reality, in every aspect they agree to be illegal against the law just to have you as a customer satisfied.

Don't use it against them. Be very careful in their shop, do not expose them to other customers, ask to speak with the person you
talk on telephone and ask his permission to show him the watch.

Rep world is a way to enjoy watches that look like a gen and cost you less to bought them. A watch smith will do the same work as in a gen watch
or more, while he is dealing against the law and the people that create the watch you have as a replica.

Have self respect and be respected. We are here to help you with any question that you may have, don't make professionals to regret their will to help you.

The price that you pay has nothing to do with the cost of service!

Please, if my english are not enought or you need any kind of explanation, ask it here from the people that we have nothing to loose.

Your watch will probably have minor needs and will cost you the base cost of a service.

A service routine is something that you will enjoy for a long time.
All watches need a professional watch smith to service them to work as good as they can.

Appreciate where you are coming from, and if I came across as someone who was disresepctful, then apologies!! but I am in NO WAY trying to be rude by my statement.

I understand the amount of legality standards they are going against by even looking at my replica. I am in no way giving them a hard time, I'm beyond grateful they would even consider working on my rep. Even if we cannot make a repair, I will not blast them or come at them in any kind of negative way! Of course myself and the fellow who will repair it will sit in privacy and talk, no need for other customers in they're store to knowing our private business. This man and his company will forever be in my good Grace's, even if the watch cannot be repaired. My TD has already assured me my refund is safe, he's even offered to pay for the cost of the repair if it's cheaper than replacing the watch itself.

Though my account may be new, I myself am not new to this community or this forum in particular. I absolutely love this community and everyone in it! Ive learned so much about time pieces and mechanics through members of this world,. Every question I've had has been answered the best way possible, so much that I've now added another hobby of interest to my life. Great members, great moderators, great topics!

As well, thanks to each of you for replying to my post, knowing that my question didnt go un answered is most comforting, and is the reason I've stuck with RWI these many years (albeit I've gone threw numerous accounts, haha).

Exactly, the amount of information, debate, and breakthroughs in mechanics and knowledge isincredible. I've learned more through the rep world in 3 years of collecting than I have my past 10 years of being a jewelry designer working hand in hand with Gen dealers and gen forums.

These replicators are constantly finding new ways of utilizing different mechanical process that mimic the genuine, but is still completely differedifway, which to me is incredible. It's almost makes it more unique and rare than the fen it replicates, though I may be getting just a tad bit ahead of myself ;)

mysterio how do I go about that? I've tried to find a way to edit my post but never see any option. Might it be the browser I'm using on my mobile device?
