Having a really hard time deciding on a first proper replica (

I have a PAM 005 which is a decent replica but not a fan of the strap it came with, hence I'd like to order another PAM from puretime so I can also get a decent strap for it at the same time. (I've been reading around and seems like more than one person has had a not so optimal experience with perfectwatches and found themselves here.)

But having a really hard time deciding as there are so many to choose from, so far I've got these two:

1. PAM388 O ZF 1:1 Best Edition on Black Leather Strap ZP9000

2. PAM338 M Radiomir V6F 1:1 Best Edition on Black Leather Strap P.999

3. .....Maybe a 372/622???...

I would honestly take any suggestions even if they are not from the Radiomir line...its just what stuck out after a few pages. Also a suggestion for a strap for my 005 would be nice.

I'm liking the automatic of the 388 but if there is a reason to stay away from the automatics at first i'd love to know why. I would like to stay around the 200-275ish range for my first proper replica purchase.

I've caught the bug it seems like and I am so happy I found this forum after scouring the net following the perfectwatches experience. Looking forward to many enjoyable years.

Thanks everyone.

Why not stick to the 005 and get a nice custom strap of your choice [emoji817][emoji817][emoji817]

Have you considered the newly released 604?

Well I was thinking of buying a second watch AND at the same time picking up a new strap :) Just something basic though - whatever my new watch comes with (black/brown leather) I'll pick the opposite for the 005

Have you considered the newly released 604?

OMG....that is a beautiful watch. Especially in the PVD.

But its a little out of my price range for now.

how about pam 299 or pam 297?

you can change bracelet to custom strap

Wow the 299/297 both look great. Would the GMT function on these proper reps work correctly though? I was thinking more along the lines of a non ss watch as I'd like the ability to easily change between lots of different types of straps for my first proper rep.

If you plan to use.the rep strap, I suggest you choose a model that comes on an asso strap (it's rhe brown suede-pike one).
388 is a great choice, also consider the v6 version with seagull movement, cheaper and accurate.
If you want another 44mm Luminor, check noob 390 (my fav) and H fac 411 to 417 (on sale now from many TDs and pretty cheap).
If you want an auto 44mm Luminor, 104 is.nice but I'd rather get a gmt like the noob 029.
If you want to switch to 47mm then both 372 and 622 are great looking watches and they're fairly cheap.
Or you can choose one of the v6f submersibles with seagull movement: 569, 508, 389, 382.
I was forgetting about ceramic PAMs, 438 and 441 are both available with the seagull thus pretty cheap, and they look great.
Oh, and check the ceramic radiomirs 613 and 292...

Hell, I want a new PAM now!

I have pam 297, and gmt works perfectly

looks greats on straps too, not too busy dials

use panatime panerai springbar, it easier to use

i change my strap 1-3x everyday

Wish there was an "This is the answer" on the thread button because you didnt leave a stone unturned LOL. You're making me want to buy all of them. The Noob 390 does seem like a good place to start with a proper rep, or maybe the 388....Im leaning towards that as my 005 is sort of similar. But I only see the V2 388 around.

just get pam 005! that is really good basic model

I have the 005 as I said in my post, and you're right its a great basic model. I just need a better strap :/

Pam 390 is a must have in your collection.

Another for the 390! it is beautiful, and would be an easy way to get an Asso strap.

Straps: from China You need 2 straps: the Asso and the rubber one, forget about the rest or just check if You can later use the buckle on another strap;
Good cheaper or machine-made straps: visit Panatime or watchbandcenter.com, handmade and exclusive straps http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/forumdisplay.php/167-Trusted-Straps-and-accessories
PAMs: Kilowattore made a list:) myself I´d like to try out a 519 or 520 for the time being (not in super-rep category).

I wasnt too into the Asso strap but as thats all ive been reading about the last few days its REALLY grown on me. I'm thinking of purchasing a Panerai box which would hopefully come with a rubber strap and then buying a watch with the Asso maybe.

I like the look of the 297, and its nice to get proper confirmation that the GMT function works, but i think the SS one is a little out of the range I'd like to spend first time. Whats a springbar? Like an easy clip?

this springbar : http://www.panatime.com/22respbareyo.html

much easier to change strap than QR (quick release) button system

but if you use rubber strap or bracelet you need stay with QR system

GMT on pam 088 or pam 297 works perfectly, but i only use gmt if i travelling overseas

if not i only use gmt hands to know my local time in 24 hours

What if I told you the 388 is currently out of stock? If I were you I'd probably run with the 622. And then buy the other 20 PAMs after that.
