Blackbird and Blackbird on a bracelet ,does not seem to have the same following as the EVO and SFSO.

Is the EVO that much better or is the Blackbird to much of the same?

I will go for the second reason... Couple that with 300ish USD price. You can't go wrong with this watch but there are simple other alternatives given the price (Chronomat is not a bad one...).

Would you rather buy the Aquatimer Slevin /w bracelet instead of the Blackbird ?

The Blackbird is a good rep,the brushed steel is not a fave of mine, prefer the models with polished....

Ruby has the Blackbid going for $299 shipped, can't beat that, she will send you a pic of yours before shipping, make sure the pearl is centered.

i just like the evo better. i wish they would make a good rep of the super avenger. if they would make a accurate version i might spend the money on it but it just has too many flaws to justify buying at all much less the price. :(

+1 for too many obvious flaws. Would it hurt to make an accurate dial?

The SA rep looks like a glorified Chrono Avenger. There's just TOO MANY things wrong with that rep. And this is coming from someone who owns a gen.

As for the Blackbird, It's a "love it or hate it" kind of watch. For some, the Brushed Steel case turns some people off. For others, it's the movement issues. For a select few, it's the off-centre pearl and incorrectly-cut rider tabs. And for the eccentric ones, the big-date complication puts some off.

I was an early adopter of the Blackbird when Andrew had it for $398 and it was pretty much well worth the money. I wrote a review of it on RWG and compared it to the Crosswind Special, which used essentially the same movement (though the gen used a modified 2894). And I was put off by the brushed steel, so I polished the case. It looked loads better and "more expensive". Eventually, I sold it and possibly will be buying the gen.

In the gen arena I was considering either the Black Bird to the Chrono Evo.

In prospective i think the blackbird has more to offer and is more of a tool watch, compared to the Evo which can be dressed up or down. In the reps i think they are both good looking. Though out of Perosnal preference I would take the blackbird, as it looks robust and that is what makes Breitling soo appealing to me.

Thanks

Well, I wont touch it for two reasons.

1st. The pearl was horribly off center. Would be afraid of what I would get.

2nd. Trying on the Gen at Tourneau was a big disappointment. The way the subdial is constructed gives the appearance that they are really small and disproportionate with the rest of the dial. I was not impressed at all.

Neither a Breitling, nor a Blackbird will ever lose it's fans. :D :D :D
