Just curious how you all maintain your manual PAM reps. I have a gen 233 that I wind up every ~8 days or so (8 day PR) and not worry too much about stressing the movement. I like to keep it running as well because setting the date/time is a PITA given no quick set date and minding the AM/PM GMT indicator. Also, since its a luminor, the crown doesnt need to be unscrewed before winding, so pretty easy-peasy.

I've recently gotten a few Radiomir reps, all manual (~ 3 day PR) so the question is - is it better to let them "die" and only wind them up when wearing them? Or still OK to wind them up ~3 days or so to keep time? My worry is stressing the screw threads for the screw down crown and not sure how resilient the movements are from constantly being wound up.

Apologies if this topic has been covered - still learning about these reps! Thanks!

It will be interesting to see others views on this as the subject will apply to all brands of manual watches not just PAMS.

My own regime is to wind all my mechanical watches (manual and auto) every once in a while. I don’t attempt to keep them all running continuously 24/7. It’s bad for mechanical watches to be static for long periods of time and my view is that as long as the watches run for their reserve duration every few weeks they should remain in good order.

Auto movements, particularly reps, don’t respond well to aggressive winding so some care has to be taken.

Thanks for the response Grape and makes sense. I have my auto's in winders so not as worried about those..

I haven't had one in years (manual only). But I tend to wind them when I'm wearing them. If not, I let them die until next use.
