I had both for a while and for some reason I can't explain the rep never fooled me, friends who know very little about watches couldn't tell the difference...
There's some kind of 'aura' about the gen, all the owners of Pam gen and rep will confirm.

I disagree with you on this one. I have worn gen panerai and they haven't had any 'aura' at all. Although if I had paid gen prices I'd make sure I felt an 'aura' when I wore them.

I have discuss this with a few other member here and across other rep forum, and I know I'm not this one believing this.
It would take less than a nano second to find the gen compare to any H or noob factory Pam.
As for testing a Pam at an AD and wearing it for a week or more....

So what's the final verdict on this 177? I've been lusting after one for a while, and this one seems to fit the bill. Is this currently the best version on the market and is this the best place to get it?

I must agree on this, ....
Although the new rep pams which are out and about ( especially the new 111 ) makes it hard to justify a gen , still I have no intention of selling it ;)
A rep will never be a gen ...

So? I'm a real noob here guys (or girls), and would surely appreciate any advice from those of you with some experience.

Pretty much all the current handwind H-Factory and Noobfactory PAMs are excellent buys. The only one to be careful of is the 292K lugs/lug screws, and even they might (hopefully!) have been fixed with the new 292M.

Buy one, you won't be disappointed :)

Its not a high beat its a low beat movement I bought it and regret it now....

H-Factory 177N does have the option of 21600 movement but it is more money, yes.
