Basically Taobao is one of the world's largest online shopping store. You can literally buy anything there from clothing to car parts to furnitures to watches and everything else... But the thing about this amazing website is that it is in CHINESE.... hence reallllyyyy difficult to use... if you dont know any of that language.

So As I was shopping on Taobao a few days back, I was thinking that probably it'll be good record down every step to compile a guide and tutorial on how to shop on Taobao. As I understand it can be rather difficult during the first few attempts which I myself had previously experienced.
Hence I have use my recent purchase as a real example in the detailed shopping guide with step-by-step screenshots which can be found here. I recently started carrying designer bags with my best friend which is why the guide post is in this website. So yeah thats the story. Anyway back to business...

In this Guide, you will learn how to:
-Enable Auto Translation from Chinese to English in Taobao page in Chrome browser
-Register for a Taobao and Alipay Account
-Login to your Taobao Account
-Search for items, Sort them by price, Select, Add to Cart and Check out
-Check Out (Single Item Order and Shipping/ Bulk Order and Consolidate Shipping)
-Select Shipping Options
-Fill up the Shipment Form
-Pay for order
-Track orders

I have also included the list of countries Taobao delivers to in the guide. The Chinese characters were extracted directly from the drop down menu which can be seen in Step 14. and mapped to its English Translation. As the list goes well over 200 countries, I have decided to upload it as a complete file which can download it from the page. Hope this helps!

I hope this will help anyone of you who are just starting to get into Taobao. Enjoy your shopping experience. If you have any questions feel free to ask !!!

Why would you want people to bother doing all that just to get low end chinese products while they can go to aliexpress and get the same thing in English or in their native language?

I guess because Aliexpress is in english... its target market is international hence more expensive... also the choices are nothing near its big brother Taobao.

From my own experience their prices are similar, some are a bit higher on one website and some are lower. It isn't consistent. Unless there is something specific you are looking for that you know will be cheaper I'm not sure it makes much of a difference.

Taobao is a lot cheaper for most items. Especially since you can consolidate for shipping. Most sellers send DHL also Dhgate is also pretty cheap. Most of their items are minimum order but most of the time sellers will make exceptions

Taobao is definitely cheaper than Aliexpress (but not for english based clients, so you need some sort of translation or using agent such as Basetao http://www.basetao.com/ to buy for you and need some techniques too (anybody can grab any pics from the internet), so just be careful)

@OP,You made a thread to promote your signature link where you sell replicas as "authentic quality"? @trailboss99 is that even allowed?

How about the shipping cost when you order straight from the sellers on Tao?
