Ok bloody long name for a watch!

I just picked up this RW Sports about 3 days ago and thought i'd share my impressions of it with you all.

firstly some breif background on RW as pulled from wiki: RW is a Swiss watchmaker, founded in 1976 in Geneva, Switzerland. It is one of the last independent brands in the luxury Swiss watch industry. The brand has modernized its corporate identity in 2007, redesigning logo and official colour to dark brown. The RAYMOND WEIL motto is “Independence is a state of mindâ€.

Watch specs:

• Model: Raymond Weil RW Sport
• Price: retail $1,395
• Reference: 8520-ST-20071
• Origin: Switzerland
• Movement: Swiss quartz
• Boxes and papers: new with no boxes or papers
• Metal: polished steel
• Dial: black and green
• Size: 44mm
• Height: 12mm
• Strap/Bracelet: steel links bracelet with double push-button folding clasp
• Complications: 3 sub-dials, big date at 12
• Crystal: scratch-resistant sapphire
• Water resistance: 200m
• Other info: luminescent hands and baton hour markers, green tachymeter bezel, RW logo on crown with protectors, minute and seconds track, green chronometer hand

Ok so now that all that is out of the way, i'll get on to my impressions.

First impression of this watch is, damn thats a big watch. At 44mm its no small baby and it has good wrist presence. Very solid case and pretty weighty for a quartz watch - quality. The other thing of excellent quality is the bracelet. Thick, solid and very comfortable on the wrist. screw pins too so making it very easy to resize.

The dial... i quite like the design and layout of this dial. i like the close subdial spacings and the green and black looks good to me. i also like the 'circular' indented pattern present throughout the dial and find that it adds character. This is also my first 'big date' watch so took some getting used to but i find the big date pretty handy too :) Chrome hands and chrome date window. no chrome surrounds on the hour markers. its just lume. lumed hands as well.

Overall i'm quite happy with this watch. Love the design and the quality of the bracelet. Picked it up for $518.00 USD

Here's the pics. sorry its a bit dusty!

pretty good AR on the crystal

caseback shot and butterfly clasp on the bracelet

i quite like the 'RW' incorporation into the clasp section of the bracelet but it means you have to close the proper side of the clasp before the other or it won't work

thanks for looking and for commenting guys. i think RW as a brand is good value for money as well. i LOVE the nabucco. the real one is so light with all that carbon fibre and titanium bracelet and case :)

moisted: i really like the design as well. the RW chronos look pretty good IMO. i picked it up off ebay. got a good price so you might want to have a look around :)

I like the design, And I like the build. Unfortunately, my RW W1 chronograph died after 3 years of use (and not even constant use at that). The movement is fried- need to replace it- which looks to be more expensive than buying another one. I am disappointed that my swiss quartz movement died after a few years, but my japanese quartz movement from Seiko has been going strong for damn near 20 years...

@540i,
Most of the RW's run an ETA quartz.
So if you buy the movement as an ETA, not as an RW, you will find a significantly lower price available.
And if your original movement had RW embossed bridges, they are easy to swap over to retain the "authenticity".
