Hey guys,

It's strange how one can stumble upon an old place that was once so familiar.

I used to be in the rep game a while back and wrote some reviews. Man, it feels like a decade ago, and it probably is. Back then, Pugwash, Bytor, Stephane, Takashi, and a few others were the experts with unparalleled knowledge about their favorite watches.

I wonder how many of them are still active here. Cheers to you!

Those were the days when you could spot a replica by looking at the crown guard (unless the owner had sanded it down themselves) or a misspelled font (the infamous "HUBOTL" comes to mind).

Back then, we would swap out the Asian 7750 movement for a gray market ETA movement and feel like kings because we managed to find some fitting hands on the bay.

I guess those times are over. I came across a video on YouTube of some "luxury replica guy" showing off a Pepsi "superclone V3," and man, that thing looked frighteningly good. If you're here, kudos to you. Nice vid.

I did what all newbies do. I googled the damn watch, and guess what forum popped up?

I'm amazed that my old profile is still active.

So, here's the mandatory question: "Who has the best sub?"

Hi and welcome back to RWI!

A lot has probably changed in 10 years, he'll, a lot has changed the last two, so maybe a refresher may not be a bad idea.

Although I've heard/read of pugwash, none of the members you mention are active, and if they are, they stay behind the scenes. Member since 2006, you're a real OG.
Undoubtedly, reps today are very hard to tell from gen, especially for your usual suspects.

Stick around, and share a bit of RWI/rep history.

Please take some time to read the sticky threads in the new members area (all subsections), learn the basic forum rules and get some very good advice in the process. A number of questions has already been answered there, this is just an example:

As a new subscriber, you've already been directed to this thread, please read carefully and look through the linked additional threads:

Another good thread to read to understand where RWI comes from and some fundamentals is this:

Most of the information you need to know to start is there. If you're preparing to buy, read the stickies before ordering. When you're finished, you can continue learning by reading the stickies in all remaining sections. If it's stickied, it's important information.

If you intend to sell, read the sales rules and all stickies in the sales section with particular care and make sure you understand each single rule. Sales rules infraction is taken very seriously here. As a new member you are not eligible to sell. Using the sales section is a privilege, eligibility must be earned, make sure you know and understand how.

For anything else, feel free to reach out to @eBoy or me, we're happy to assist, advise, direct, explain. Don't hesitate.

Don't be afraid to post noob questions in the new members area. In doubt, use the flame free zone. If you feel uncomfortable anywhere in the new members area, please reach out to @eBoy or me. Mutual respect is of utmost importance to us. On the other hand, we're grown-ups and are supposed to be able to deal with a bit of irony, don't take it personally, ever, a bit of irony never harmed anyone. If you laugh at jokes, you'll make friends faster.

This forum is a treasure trove of information and benefits from the engagement of all members who take their time to share their knowledge, help each other out and have some fun. We hope that you'll benefit and enjoy this platform as well as contribute positively to it.

If at any point you feel to contribute also on another level, feel free to pm the boss (trailboss99) to become a supporter and get some little perks with the status (editing rights, for example).

Enjoy the forum.

Yes, the misspelled casebacks were so tragic back then. Welcome back. Surprisingly you'll see that the newer breed of members demand more from reps than even gens. If they lived through the old days, they would see how fortunate we are to have the current offerings.

Welcome back!

You'll want to look at VSF or Clean if you want a Sub rep, pulling from my very limited knowledge.

I think VSF has the better movement, and Clean has the better exterior, but you'll want to do your own research and not trust me.

If you were just joking, though, I blame me being actually new, and therefore having immunity to ridicule. This is legally binding.

Uh, I remember how dudes got salty because their $5 Asia movement that never saw any lubrication lost 5 minutes a day.

I remember when the "Noobmariner" arrived and the overpriced Thai clones that were rumored to fit genuine movements but actually couldn't without extensive modifications were getting cheaper, yet better competition.

Dude, I was just joking around. It was a question to get roasted back then.
Thank you anyway for your kind help! Appreciated.

I've picked up on it, I've only been active on here about a week or so, but I couldn't risk it being a serious question and letting you hang

Also, like I said, immunity. Legally binding.

We have our fair share of drama, but also a great deal of knowledge and generosity. And banter and fun. Lots of fun.

Glad some things never change. RWI was rough sometimes, but never as snobby as the other big forum.
Welcome back @SD4K. It’s always nice to see people return and share stories old and new.

But what sorcery is this that you speak of… another forum 🤯
