Guard removal

Good day gents,

Have gen 005 that I wore for a change and put a damn small dent right on the edge of the semicircular guard thingy that houses the lever.
Not sure of the name unfortunately.
Would like to remove and see the two screws just wondering if it is as simple as it looks before I mess a crew up or something.
Hoping to get it removed and then tap the dent down somehow

thanks in advance

Yes removing the 2 screws will remove the crown guard from the case, is the dent that bad? Post some pics

It doesn't get much simpler than that.

But why take it off? What's your plan? ;)

Hahaa
That's pretty much the plan.
See pics.
It's most like the outer edge is standing up somewhat so was either going to try and lay it flat and tap it down or something.
If theirs a better idea I'm all in.
Don't want to take it to the ad cause last time that cost me 600 for a spring and service.

Ouch:facepalm: that's a dull one, no disrespect mate but unless you know what your doing fixing it, and have the tools to finish off I'm afraid you might just end up making it worse, from the looks of it to try and fix your gonna loose some metal in repair so its never gonna look right..
If it was me I would take to dealer.

This isn't a bad idea. Just hopefully the crown spacing is the same because you can't adjust a rollerball CG.;)

Frig, this is a good point. Here is a pic of the Noob CG on a Gen case (Take from angus' 111 breakdown:

I think it should be fine since the Noob Crown and the Gen crown are the same thickness: both were measured by Angus to be 2mm

Hope this helps you out OP

Had a similar accident with my CG on a gen 111. Tried to find some replacement CGs on the secondary market. Everything I ordered was wrong. (But I never went so far as to order a noob to strip for parts.) Will not take the watch in to an AD as it is no longer under warranty, and I do not want to pay $500 for the repair.

Best bet is to look out for parts being sold here on the forum. I have seen numerous Noob CG's being sold here from time to time

can't they get it right so all crown guard are interchangeable .. or it is time for changing of the wearing tooling which causes this ...

Alright team.
Despite your great insight and being the eternal tinkerer, I could not resist at least giving this little piece of metal a shot.
Here were the weapons of choice,
yba5ega3.jpg

Set of hobby files, mini screwdrivers and a nail filing pad/buffer (wife not happy as I ruined it).
First observation was that he two screws holding the guard in place practically fell out.
Then a few taps with a hammer and some filing here and there.
Then used that nail buffer to try and simulate the factory finish as the file had scratched the hell out of the finish.
Voila.
I think it's at about 90 percent.

Final observation, dot think it looks that bad sans the guard!

Oh shite!
did not even notice that it ever was to be honest.
ALso put another little neck in the face of the guard with the hammer but either way a little better.

Suppose there is no way to replace that pin now is there?

You can tap it out and polish the end.

Or buy a Noob CG and let us know if it fits. ;)

Better yet, get a Noob 005 and do a comparison thread on it. I'd love to see that.
