Greetings, or how we would say in Austria "Servus", dear enthusiasts from near and far!

I stumbled across the rep game only recently. So far I only own gens (Speedy, Explorer and a few Seikos), but soon my first rep should arrive (VSF DJ41 blue).
I'm completely flabbergasted how big and versatile this community is. There are many, many watches I'd like to own and buy ... BUT ALAS, THE MONEY!
Definitely gonna buy a Rep Batman though as well, because it's impossible to get a gen. At least here in Austria you wait longer for the AD call than a sane human being can fathom.

Anyways, I'm excited what the rep journey will have in store for me!

I think it's pretty much an international community. So it's hard to really say how large it is in relation to others.

But I can tell you that the numbers of members from Germany is quite impressive on RWI. I don't think it's a minority by any means.

PS: Also, from Austria it's quite a few on here. It's funny, from the relatively small numbers of watches I bought here from members, 2 were from Austria. That's like 20% or so at least, for me personally. However, I don't think my purchasing history is representative.

It's just crazy how accurate rep watches are. Eventhough I'd like to label myself as a watch enthusiast, to a normal degree, I probaly wouldn't be able to spot any reps. Only if the watch is obviously more expensive than the wearer supposedly could afford. Climate change, warzone in the middle of Europe, USA and Canada are shooting down Aliens, global pandemic and rep watches are easily looking like gens. What a time to be alive

You are a good observer. Because it's actually true.

I think that the most members here, who are very deeply into reps, are just as deep into gens. I think the only difference between the members may be what they are able to afford, but no difference in equal love for all tiers of gens.

But unlike in some of the gen forums, where the atmosphere can get rather snobby at times, the guys here who can afford the big 6-figure guns never, ever look down on us 4-digit to low 5-figure folks, and we don't ever look down on members can who can afford gens in the rep price range.

In my roughly two years on here, I cannot recall anyone (among the established members at least) giving anyone else any subliminal signals of disapproval towards their lower tier gens.

That's one of the reasons the RWI community is so great, in my opinion. Not saying that some gen forums aren't like this as well, but I've read stuff occasionally on a few that you would never read here. Well, you would, but I like I said, never from the longstanding members... Only from obscure 7-post trolls who are trying to instigate, then fail and finally disappear to back under which ever rock they crawled from...

I didn’t realise there are so many people from Austria on here!

Whilst I’m here I have a question, how are reppers in AT getting their watches serviced? I’d be especially interested in anything near Salzburg. I have a Rolex Batman and Panerai I love, would love to treat them right and get them serviced. Any ideas?

I'm asking myself the same question, I wouldn't know of any watchmaker I could bring my timepieces to. Hopefully we'll get some insight!

Yeah it is annoying not being able to find someone. I’m also reluctant to post any pieces as well! I’m happy to go as far as Munich, if we can find somewhere!

Where abouts in AT are you? Where do you buy your pieces from? I would like to try a trusted dealer, but I’m nervous about the post here in AT, they are quiet strict! So for now I’m looking at buying privately and within the EU only. Any suggestions?

I took my Rolex GMT II and explained I knew it was a fake, but if they could please look at it and they accepted it without any problems! I’ll report back when I pick it up on Monday / Tuesday. I will also ask if it’s okay to recommend them for fellow rep fans in Austria, because I appreciate that they may not want their name associated.

I do know that they are a reputable local business, so fingers crossed!
