Hello everyone!

Obviously I'm new here. In fact I have never used a forum before. I am amazed by how much information this forum has. You guys did an amazing job!!
I'm currently exploring the sites of the TDs, looking for a Tag Heuer as a first watch. Even though I'm 30 years old I never had a good watch to wear.

10 years ago, I borrowed a rep watch from a friend. It was a hublot, automatic BUT IT WAS GARBAGE! It was missing one screw from the bezel (It had 3 instead of 4) the movement was rubbish (worked only when moving), it was full of scratches and it was gigantic in my tiny wrist:ROFLMAO: The only good thing about it was the front glass. It was turning blue when you looked from the side and it was very eye-catching.

My second try was almost 5 years ago. Bought a case with a brachelet from aliexpress and a Miyota movement from Ebay. The movement fitted to a citizen watch 37mm if I remember correctlly but I never got to assemble it myself. I took it to jeweler and he fixed it for me. After approximately 1 month, I tried to set the date and crown went off completely.

Right now, I'm living and working in Mykonos island. A high-end destination in where I have witnessed countless luxurious watches. Rolex is very common here, audemars piquet, phillipe patek, richard mille I have seen them all!! I decided to purchase a watch for myself. But I dont want it to be too loud. Rolex doesnt fit my style yet. Its too expensive! I'm not afraid to get called out. I won't pretend it to be genuine.

I haven't decided yet if quartz or automatic. I prefer automatic but I want it to run good for a couple of years at least. I had a bad experience with automatic. On the other hand I don't like quartz watches. To spend 200€ or 600€ doesn't matter at this point, the decision has been made! I'm getting a rep watch!

That's all guys! I just wanted to introduce myself. If you have any suggestions or any advices would be much appreciated. Thank you for reading.

Hi I'm Jeff. I'm from the UK but currently living and working right next door to you in Bulgaria. I travel quite often to Greece usually Thassos.

Welcome to RWI and good luck with your first purchase. Do plenty of reading and ALWAYS buy through a TD linking through RWI. Don't simply Google the TD as there are loads of fakes and scammers out there who clone the TD's sites. Be careful and you'll be fine.

Best regards,

Jeff

Hi and welcome to RWI! Glad you found your way here.

Automatic movements can work well for years, so I wouldn't limit myself to that distinction. If you say you don't want to look too expensive be mindful that the more popular the watch, the better it is repped, so Rolex, APs, PP etc. make for very good reps. Still there's a couple of choices. In your place I would then go for a Tudor, the BB58 is a good choice, not too big or thick, fits smaller wrists, great looking and the Z factory is killer. Also relatively cheap compared to its Rolex cousin (rep-wise). Other Tudor models may fit your requirements. Or an iwc mark XVIII or XX. Just from the top of my head.

Please take some time to read the sticky threads in the new members area (all subsections), learn the basic forum rules and get some very good advice in the process. A number of questions has already been answered there, this is just an example:

Another good thread to read to understand where RWI comes from and some fundamentals is this:

Thanks for your reply. I will concider your advice. Indeed popular watches get repped better, and the tudor indeed looks very nice. I'm not excactly sure yet about which seller uses the Z factory that you mentioned. I still need to read more to fully understand how it works.

Let the hunting begin :p

Well, any TD can source the watches, you just have to pick a TD. Read all the stickies and you'll get the grasp of how it all works. Ask if you need anything. And now I'm curious, what would you like, what is your style?

Actually I was looking for a Tag Heuer Aquaracer. But I will follow your advice and go for a Tudor BB. I have already contacted Steve via whats app. I asked for the BB GMT with the red/blue bezel. He says that he can source it from ZF factory. I saw that you mentioned a Z factory with excellent Tudor reps. I believe ZF is different than Z right? So now I'm reading posts about delays when sourcing from factories. I will look also to other alternatives. His response was fast and very kind though. I appreciate it.

The F in all these names is always factory. ZF is therefore Z factory. ZF Tudors are very good. I don't know about the GMT, though.
