I noticed the calibre 17 has seconds at 3 and the date at the 6 position. Is this all right or does it run the risk of breaking like most 7750's with seconds at the 6 position?

I was just wondering if it was okay since the only complaints i've heard were that 7750's with seconds at 6 were faulty.

Booger, I have seen a good number of threads on forums related to problems with 7750 under Cal17. I myself had troubled with it twice even after the dealer's repair. I have decided part from 7750 as much as possible since there is no benefit of stop watch in my daily life.

The 7750 tends to be a little fragile at times, but it's only secs@6 (and, to a lesser extent secs@12) that are the timebomb. Secs @3 or 9 are usually pretty solid.

Don't lump the A7750 in with the Grand Carerra. The standard A7750 is very reliable when serviced and adjusted properly. Running seconds at 6 are time bombs, but running seconds at 3 are fairly reliable when serviced. The issue with the Grand Carerra is that the totalizers at 3 and 9 are not standard hands, they are plates that barely have any clearance in an attempt to closely mimick the thickness of the gen. The result is a lot of friction, very similar to the running seconds at 6. I don't have enough experience with this movement to know whether or not it is a time bomb.
