Got QC pics for first purchase and not sure if I've found a problem or not.

So I just received my QC pics for my first purchase and TBH I have absolutely no idea what I'm looking for.

I think there may be a scratch on the the cyclops (it's a PAM164) or it could just be a hair or some lint or something, maybe even a reflection. I have 3 shots of the front of the watch and it's in the same place in two of them and then seems to move in the third. Hopefully it's ok for me to post them here for a second opinion, I'm sure a mod can just remove them otherwise...

Lastly, to add an even dumber question to this post, I'm sure there's an awesome thread about this somewhere on the site already but I can't seem to find anything. I also have a shot of the watch attached to some kind of a measuring device with an LCD on it showing:

BEAT NUMBER:28800 AUTO - LIFT ANGLE:52.0 - RATE:+002s/d - AMPLITUDE:321 - BEAT ERROR 0.0ms

Can anyone point me toward any reading on how to interpret that?

Any input would be greatly appreciated as I have 24 hours to raise any issues before they dispatch.

Thanks and sorry again for what I'm sure is another silly question on my part.

I'd just ask your TD if it's a hair or a scratch and if they could wipe it clean and send 1 extra pic. That's not asking much.

Excellent idea and I've e-Mailed them now, not sure why I didn't just think of that already!

This link should help you to understand what you see on the timegrapher.

I've read that now and it seems like everything is fine with my watch except for possibly the amplitude. The guide in the link says:

Amplitude
The measure of the amount of rotation in the swing of the balance wheel, in either direction.
Amplitude is higher when a watch is lying flat and usually falls when the watch is in a vertical position, due to increased friction. Amplitude can also fall as the watch winds down and the mainspring delivers less power.
Amplitude is a good indicator of the movements health and if is too high or too low, or that changes too much in different positions, can indicate a problem with the movement.

great : 270-310
acceptable : 250-270

If higher / lower?
Ask for a different watch or have your watch serviced

I'd actually decided against having the watch immediately serviced following some excellent advice I got in another thread and also via PM. Is my amplitude value of 321 really problematic here?

Just to update this, I'd asked for a quick wipe over and a close up of the cyclops by e-Mail as suggested above but it seems my e-Mail got missed and they've gone ahead and shipped the watch anyway. Hopefully the scratch will turn out to be just a hair or something.

The amplitude being slightly out of range has me a little worried too as from what I've been able to find on it being too high (most writing on the subject seems to concern it being too low) it can be damaging for the movement if left untreated.

So after reading the following extract from this excellent thread from UK Watch Services:

7750's with chrono function, seconds @ 9.

I get quite a few questions about these and heres my view on them. They are a decent movement, even more so for the money they cost. The issue with them is they are also the dirtiest and incorrectly oiled of all the reps I see. I dont really know why this is but they are never done well. Sometimes I am amazed they have even run at all before they arrive on my bench. My honest opinion is if you are buying one of these you really should factor into the price the cost of having it serviced or buy it with a view that it might only last a few months and you will need to buy a new one or have it serviced then. I know theres exceptions to the rule and some people have bough asian 7750's that have run out of the box for years, but then someone has to win the lottery! In honesty there probably is a fair few that last quite a while but its all down to luck I can assure you. The movement as is from the factory is poor at best. One other issue to mention is hands, on quite a regular basis I have to do something with these. In an ideal world I would just fit new ones but unfortunately I dont have a supply of rep hands on tap so have to make do with what I have. Very occasionally the hands cant be sourced and the only option is a new one although this is rare. The main issue being the center seconds. The hammer slams down onto then heart pretty hard when you reset these and if the hand isn't fitted tight to the pinion the possibility of it slipping is high. This is often what has happens if your hand isn't resetting to zero anymore. Even once serviced I recommend using the chrono sparingly if at all, used as a watch to tell the time alone it should be a fairly good time keeper.

I've decided to go ahead and send the watch for servicing straight away, my apologies to @jpohl402 here for acting against his advice as he was kind enough to shoot me a very long and detailed PM on why, while it can't hurt, this probably wouldn't be necessary which must've taken a really long time to write. Your time was not wasted I promise, I read and inwardly digested every word and I learned a ton from it even if I have now decided to go the other way.

Fingers crossed now that it arrives in one piece and that that is just a hair or something in my QC pics (it really seems to move considerably in the third shot I posted and the second is just a closer zoom of the first anyway so I'm 95% sure it's not a scratch, just would've been nice to have clarification before it was shipped is all.

Thanks to everyone for their input anyway, it's appreciated.

Amazingly, this arrived today!

I literally have an order for vitamins in with amazon here in the UK which pre-dates this one and it's not here yet. This came faster from HK than my domestic package from right here in the UK.

I've been able to set the day and time ok, gave it a quick, gentle wind and it's on my wrist right now so the auto-winder can do it's thing for a bit before I put it back in the box.

There's nothing wrong with the cyclops either so happy days there. I'll be sending this off to Alex at UK Watch Services for a full service just as soon as he gives me his address. He reckons around 6 weeks so there's a good chance I'll have this back in time for my Anniversary (it's a gift from my wife).

Thanks again for the input in this thread everyone who replied.

Yep, I can't find fault with the watch at all, except for the strap which I was expecting. No sound out of it while it's running either as far as I can tell. I was expecting it to be clanking and grinding away on my wrist from most of what I'd read about the 7750 on here especially given the amplitude thing but it's fine.

I've been good though, gave it a couple of quick winds, wound the time forward to 6 o'clock, set the date then the time again to the correct. Put it on for around an hour and a half to make sure it's running well (only get 24 hours to voice any concerns with PureTime) and it's back in the box waiting to be sent to Alex already. She'd be very happy for me to have it now but I'm kind of weird about gifts (as I'm sure you've noticed) so wouldn't wear it before the day even if it wasn't being sent off for service.

I still feel kind of bad about not taking your advice though, the next one will definitely not be going away. I'm going to make it a 000 (with a 6947 in it) and I'll order an extra movement at the same time to practice taking apart/re-assembling until I can service it myself. Not sure I'll ever be brave enough to service the 7750 though, it sounds like that's probably one best left to the professionals!

Thanks again for all the time you took to help me out, it's greatly appreciated for sure.

Na, it's still with UK watch services at the minute. Should be done some time next week hopefully, not to worry though. I'm wearing a 243 (already serviced) I bought m2m on here in the mean time and loving it.

Will stick some pics up as soon as it comes back...

Better late than never I guess, here's some (poorly taken) pics, also excuse the mess, we're renovating, hence no time for better pics...

And here's one with all his friends, I've really got to stop buying watches at least for a while...
