Got a bad Jubilee clasp?

Good morning everyone, here's my sitch.

Order an ARF DJ and the clasp is crap. The clasp portion sticks out, catches on sleeves, and has even come undone while wearing it. I've included a picture (it isn't mine, but looks exactly like my clasp)

1) I'm a little irritated that the TD didn't indicate to me that there was an issue. On the QC pics, the clasp is pushed flat and the problem isn't noticeable.
2) When I emailed my TD asking about a repair or getting a replacement, he says that all ARF clasps are coming like this (I call BS on this) and even with a replacement wouldn't likely solve the problem.

Thanks in advance

Any suggestions? If in fact ARF hidden clasps are garbage lately, will a hidden clasp from another factory likely fit to the ARF bracelet?

Here are some pictures of the ARF super jubilee I made a special request for and received back in September. I noticed mine is out a bit but not as bad as the one in the picture you posted. I just figured that’s how it’s supposed to sit?

Does yours have some "spring" in it as your pulling it back? Mine doesn't I'm basically just unhooking the inner part of the clasp using the exposed crown

Does yours have some spring in it as it 's pulled out? I have a BP president bracelet and it does, but not this ARF clasp. It just unhooks the inner part of the clasp without any real resistance.

I think mine would be the same as posted above. I only wore the bracelet for a day as I bought it to throw on a 16710 that I ended up working on and mid project just stopped lol here are a couple more pictures. There isn’t really a “spring” on the coronet at all. Closing the clasp also takes more pressure than I thought it would as well.

2nd picture “open”
3rd picture “closed”
That coronet is in a free state with no resistance.

Anyone know if the jubilee clasps from other factories function any better?

I like my super jubilee from arf but when I try to close the clasp I have to put alot of pressure to close it. Beside that I don’t have any other issue

Had the same issue on my ARF DJ v1, see below. A crown sticking out like that is a real pain in the ass. On my v3 I received a few months ago it’s perfectly flush with the bracelet. Probably when you order a new bracelet you will receive a correct one.

It just annoys me when I close the clasp... probably lot of usage will soften it.

The pressure it takes to close mine is quite a bit. In a way it’s a good thing that way it won’t open up if it gets snagged. but like you said I think with more usage it will wear the notch.

Those ARF clasps are defective, poorly designed, or both. That isn't how they should fit. Below are pics of my wife's gen super jubilee next to her BP TT one. The design is different - the gen coronet opens up much higher and the coronet is free floating. The BP has a slight spring loading that returns it naturally to an aligned position with its link. Either way, the coronet should not stick up at all when closed.

KJ2020 Thanks for clearing this up. I did almost no research when I ordered the jubilee, I just knew ARF has a decent reputation when it comes to bracelets. We must have gotten one from a bad batch. QC on a bracelet is a must from now on lol

Yeah I would never have expected this from ARF bro. But I've seen it before, there was another thread about it. Seems like there should be a way to MacGyver the coronet link somehow, I know I would want to try if I had one, haha. Epoxy a little rectangular polished bumper under the coronet oval opening so it still functions but can't open up nearly as much like the BP?

KJ2020 is there way to soften the clasp closing? It’s annoying to put alot of force to close...

You can sand down the anchor protrusion a little but I would proceed very gradually. Take a look at this other thread, maybe bending the stamped part of the clasp would fix your issue.

You have the opposite problem from the members there, so increasing the bend in the stamped part of the clasp will effectively shorten it so the anchor protrusion is closer lengthwise to the coronet catch. This should loosen it up. Always be careful bending clasps and use only enough force to achieve your desired outcome. Baby steps.
