Good Day RWI, I'm looking through the Goodwill online auction website, shopgoodwill.com and have found what is listed as Omega "Sea Master" Professional Diving Watch (Item #31241376). First impressions for me look like a fake, with the date wheel having faint print, only showing "7", along with a miss-aligned clasp engraving, off centered to the right by my eyes. Interestingly enough, it is at the $1,011.10 mark, with over 3 days left. Are my eyes correct with this being a Rep? Please assist me in my sanity check and either confirm or argue the origin of this piece by following the link to here: http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewitem.asp?itemid=31241376

Well the clasp is definitely wrong and off center. Swiss Made is wrong. Helium valve is too big.

I say fake...:(

I sent an email. Hopefully some poor schmuck doesn't get saddled with this for $1000+

Thank you all for the confirmation, glad to hear my eyes are getting a little bit better at observing the Gen/Rep discrepancies.

It's probably not the first time this has happened. If they're going to auction off luxury brand watches, then they need to get them authenticated first.

The pearl on the insert looks like an Ali special.

I've seen them list items as authenticated, before I joined here and started learning what to spot and look out for, other listings I've watched and noticed them pulled / ended before their auctions ran the full course for what I can only assume was realization of a replica piece being sold as Gen in their details. Only one time thus far have I seen an item be re-listed once it was found to be replica, a Corum if my memory is correct.

I did send an email, the following is what I mentioned:

Good day,
I'm sending this message today to inform you that based on the photographs provided for item number 31241376, the Omega "Sea Master" watch, I believe this item to be a replica watch. Two signs that this may be a replica watch would be the Date wheel print, not being bold enough. Second would be the engraving on the clasp of the bracelet, it is not centered as per Genuine Omega watches. I would suggest a local watch maker for verification of this piece with the auction currently over $1000 USD.

Hopefully someone does not pay the current listed price for this piece only to find out that it is fake upon further inspection or servicing by a watch maker.

Thank You

"Hello Bob,

Thank you for the information!

I have forwarded your email to the seller, and asked that they take the listing down until further research is done.

Thank you for your patronage and your assistance.

Vicki"

Yea, I've been watching it climb slow but steadily. I do not know if they will take the advice on the origin of the timepiece or not based on two emails. Bob is the only one that got a response as of now. I hope that the only reason the auction is still going is due to the weekend.
