Howdy gang, this is my first real post so I hope you enjoy.
I bit the bullet a few weeks ago (before discovering this forum), and bought a rep. I did a google search and a number of dealers showed up on my screen. I saw what I liked and contacted them, the one dealer that stood out was Henry at edit.com he answered all my emails quickly, and seemed very good indeed, SO i took the chance and paypalled him close to $300 for a PAM212. My watch arrived quickly, it looked fantastic BUT the crown guard was loose on it. When I tightened the screws I realized that the top one was stripped. I contacted Henry, and he said ship it back as he would repair or replace it. I had opted for replacement because I figured the case was stripped. AS SOON as I gave him a tracking number for the parcel going back using his instructions, he immediately posted out another watch to me so I would not have to wait 20 days to have a watch on my wrist after the round trip. It arrived in seven business days from China to NW Ontario.
After showing my buddy my new Panny, he decided he wanted an Omega GMT, and I wanted a Fiddy. So, email Henry, and boom a week later I have the two watches. The fiddy is as good as any, with the Swiss movement, AR crystal (i did the crystal test and it did infact bead), and nice workmanship. I am not happy with the strap, but I am in the process of making one anyway. My buddys GMT was nice too, but the S/S strap was big, so he decided we should go for a ride and get it sized.
Now here is the funny part.
My buddy, who keep in mind is not cheap (teacher, drives a mercedes, wears designer cloths), decides he wants to change the strap right NOW. We go for a ride to the local shopping mall and go to Sears. We get to the watch repair counter, and I take a look at the watchsmith, this big 300 dopey looking fuck with two piercings in his lips, one in the nose three in each ear on the top, and the bottom of the ear has the hole stretched out and he as a friggen wine cork like piece of wood in there, no word of a lie. My buddy hands over his watch, and I say (because I am an asshole) in front of dopey, "buddy, I dont think this is a good idea", to which he replies, "dont worry I get batteries changed here all the time". Well to make a long story short, dopey is going to town on the strap and SNAPS two screws off inside the strap so that half the strap is secure and the other half is opening. He hands my buddy the watch and said, "sorry sir I cant size it". How my buddy kept his cool is beyond me, because I blow a gasket and asked who is going to replace the strap?? He states that it is not thier resposnsibility but can send it away and thier cost to have it sized but it will be three weeks. We left and he dropped it off at a proper watchsmith now to have it drilled out and pinned...
Moral of the story...
Dont let a douche bag with thirty piercings touch your watches, Gens or Reps.
Ill post pics of the fiddy tonight.
