Hi and welcome to RWI! Glad you found your way here.

Please take some time to read the sticky threads in the new members area (all subsections), learn the basic forum rules and get some very good advice in the process. A number of questions has already been answered there, this is just an example:

As a new subscriber, you've already been directed to this thread, please read carefully and look through the linked additional threads:

Another good thread to read to understand where RWI comes from and some fundamentals is this:

Most of the information you need to know to start is there. If you're preparing to buy, read the stickies before ordering. When you're finished, you can continue learning by reading the stickies in all remaining sections. If it's stickied, it's important information.

If you intend to sell, read the sales rules and all stickies in the sales section with particular care and make sure you understand each single rule. Sales rules infraction is taken very seriously here. As a new member you are not eligible to sell. Using the sales section is a privilege, eligibility must be earned, make sure you know and understand how.

For anything else, feel free to reach out to @eBoy or me, we're happy to assist, advise, direct, explain. Don't hesitate.

Don't be afraid to post noob questions in the new members area. In doubt, use the flame free zone. If you feel uncomfortable anywhere in the new members area, please reach out to @eBoy or me. Mutual respect is of utmost importance to us. On the other hand, we're grown-ups and are supposed to be able to deal with a bit of irony, don't take it personally, ever, a bit of irony never harmed anyone. If you laugh at jokes, you'll make friends faster.

This forum is a treasure trove of information and benefits from the engagement of all members who take their time to share their knowledge, help each other out and have some fun. We hope that you'll benefit and enjoy this platform as well as contribute positively to it.

If at any point you feel to contribute also on another level, feel free to pm the boss (trailboss99) to become a supporter and get some little perks with the status (editing rights, for example).

Enjoy the forum.

@kenzie835 : 'Gold Coloured' is not accurate.

You can have Reps Gold Plated (vast majority of them ) or Gold Wrapped (only selcted models and Factory).
Moreover, some specific watches can even have a Solid Gold Case, but it is very, very rare and also pretty expensive.

That said, 'Gold Coloured' is not correct.... at all 🤓 :D !

Hi buddy

Welcome to the RWi Forums & Community

Let me explain on the "gold colour" question you have.

Most of the current replicas (mid to high end) are gold plated (not coloured). Of course, as everyone knows gold is very expensive now, this gold plating we have on replicas aint plated to very thick coatings. Plated gold can be anywhere from 1-10 mils.

Of course there is also the gold wrapped versions with a lot more gold used but of course that reflects in the pricing of the replica watch.

Solid gold replicas are now very scarce unless you want it customed made but that will be a longer process and a huge deposit upfront for such project is needed.

Thanks..

Honestly gold price these days is absolutely crazy (hit another high just today). If you want a solid precious metal watch much better to get a platinum one (which is still priced relatively reasonably).

Well, this was really helpful. Thank you very much indeed. However, it seems that not every TD offers such kind of treat.
You can ask them (TDs) to find them if not listed on their website.

I had once (and then I sold) a wrapped Rollie Root Beer (126711 CHNR) wrapped, it was really something!

Edit : it was this one

Is there any difference between "wrapped" and "plated"? I know theres a VPD process as well. I'm not sure which is the best representation of natural color. I have a plated one from Flandad and it looks good but not quite there. Wondering how a wrapped from a TD will compare.

Generally in layman terms, "Wrapped" is the better version of "Plated" as it is more microns of gold plating on the stainless steel surface.

Thanks

How many microns is the wrapped vs plating? Is there a ceramic coating on top of it as well for durability?

I bet one could apply a ceramic topping or use something like Renaissance Wax routinely

@Brad0021 : A TD like @trustytime can answer this naswer better than me , but usually Gold plating goes to 3 to 5 micons of Gold, while Gold wrapping is >15 - 20 microns like this for example

Your mileage may vary, anyway...different factories equal to different wrapping methods and thickness I suppose

Ooo yeah that’s pretty. Looks closer to real than what I have at the moment. When I put my YG played Daytona up next to my 18k wedding ring and chain it’s definitely off, more orange. But this looks much better. Thanks! I’ll ask the TD on my next one.

Yes. This is usually about the microns for plating and wrapped.
Great job buddy.
