On my last trip to Thailand I bought 2 different replicas, one of them was a GMT Master II, the best I could find. The quality is really impressive, especially in comparison to the others I could find. Even the rehaut engraving is alligned with the Minute Marks, and the Bezel has a nice quality with the Platinum look numbers, not painted like cheaper models. The accuracy of keeping the time is also good (After my adjustments).

The more expensive model even got a "Traveler GMT" movement with the CHS inside, not the "Office GMT" ICHS like the cheaper one.
But there also comes the problem. I believe the movement inside is the DG3804 CHS, which is supposed to be a timebomb.
The thread where I got my information from was a couple of years old, maybe I´m lucky and it improved? Probably not.

Now I am thinking about what to do in case it fails since I´m very satisfied with everything else. I am thinking about these replacements:
1.) Miyota 9074
This would be my favorite, once its available for the public. Traveler GMT CHS.
2.) Seiko NH34 GMT
Cheap, quite accurate and reliable, unfortunately only ICHS, meaning I would have to replace the Hands.
3.) Shanghai 3285 Replica
Probably the best, option? But also the hightst costs
4.) DG3804 ICHS
But I rather take the Seiko instead

Now my final Question: Is the GMT Master II Case even compatible with these movements?
Maybe someone has experience with this issue and can recommend me something I maybe didn´t even think about.

Here a pic of the movement:

Hi and welcome to RWI! Glad you found your way here.

You may want to take a look at these threads/sections and find answers to your problem:

Your choice will most probably be limited since not all movements are interchangeable.

Please take some time to read the sticky threads in the new members area (all subsections), learn the basic forum rules and get some very good advice in the process. A number of questions has already been answered there, this is just an example:

As a new subscriber, you've already been directed to this thread, please read carefully and look through the linked additional threads:

Another good thread to read to understand where RWI comes from and some fundamentals is this:

Most of the information you need to know to start is there. If you're preparing to buy, read the stickies before ordering. When you're finished, you can continue learning by reading the stickies in all remaining sections. If it's stickied, it's important information.

If you intend to sell, read the sales rules and all stickies in the sales section with particular care and make sure you understand each single rule. Sales rules infraction is taken very seriously here. As a new member you are not eligible to sell. Using the sales section is a privilege, eligibility must be earned, make sure you know and understand how.

For anything else, feel free to reach out to @eBoy or me, we're happy to assist, advise, direct, explain. Don't hesitate.

Don't be afraid to post noob questions in the new members area. In doubt, use the flame free zone. If you feel uncomfortable anywhere in the new members area, please reach out to @eBoy or me. Mutual respect is of utmost importance to us. On the other hand, we're grown-ups and are supposed to be able to deal with a bit of irony, don't take it personally, ever, a bit of irony never harmed anyone. This forum is a treasure trove of information and benefits from the engagement of all members who take their time to share their knowledge, help each other out and have some fun. We hope that you'll benefit and enjoy this platform as well as contribute positively to it.

If at any point you feel to contribute also on another level, feel free to pm the boss (trailboss99) to become a supporter and get some little perks with the status (editing rights, for example).

I honestly don't feel like a clean GMT would be notable better then the one I currently own. So I don't feel comfortable spending 500€, only to have a better movement.

Post your current replica. Not to be mean but the Clean GMT is the cream of the crop. You may not notice the differences but they exist.

Anything with a DG2803 shitter in it is not even a mid tier replica.

Also. Here is why. Swapping movements is very troublesome and more annoying than you think. Very rarely is a movement a direct 1:1 swap.

1. The hands, dial, for your watch may not fit new movement.

2. The case of your watch may not fit the new movement and have stem height issues.

The new movement runs you $100 conservatively. Casework, new dials, hands, etc, may cost anywhere from 100-250, if you can even find someone to do it for you. So you just spent 350 to swap a movement out when you could just have saved that money to buy a top tier GMT.

Up to you. Your money your choice.

Thanks for your honest Reply. I would be willing to spend arround 100€. Seems like it wouldn't be too easy to find a replacement.
I believe I read in this forum that my movement could be replaced by the 3804 ICHS, using the different spacer and new hour+ GMT hand. If I understand it right, the other movements are not quite an option.

Here some pictures. Maybe you can tell me the CF is actually much better than mine and I really need to get it 😁

The rep you have isn't bad honestly. Wear it and enjoy it. But i would not sink any money into it.

But it's the minor details that make it inferior to Clean. The finishing is sub par, the rehaut is a clear giveaway, the filling of the bezel is not like gen

Thanks!

Yes it's not too bad. I first bought a bicolor sub, but the one having a worse quality was not very happy with it.

I guess there have to be some differences, other than the movement, considering the CF is an extra 400€...
But I read the CF has some issues with the Bezel, and I see on many pictures the rehaut letters are not aligned nicely to the dial minute indicators. That's very neat on my one which I like.

But I will see how long my movement lasts. Maybe I get lucky...
