GMT II winding issue?

Hi, I have a new Rolex GMT II replica with SH3285 Automatic GMT movement, functioning 1:1 with genuine 3285

When I unscrew crown sometimes it 'pops' and then I can turn clockwise for it to wind, and anticlockwise for it to turn freely.

But sometimes when I unscrew the crown it will take a turn or two clockwise before the winder engages and there is resistance. Also, if I wind clockwise, and then turn crown anticlockwise, sometimes it will then wind when I turn it clockwise again, sometimes it won't. Other times it doesn't seem to want to 'engage the winder' at all.

It's as if the 'ratchet' doesn't egage.

Is this something that could fix itself when used lots, or get worse, or do I need to send it back, or get watch maker to look at it?

Reluctant to send it back due to postage / time etc, plus it's intermittent, so they could say "worked when we looked"

Advice please

Thanks

It sounds like the crown clutch spring is weak and not pushing the crown out far enough consistently. I've had a similar issue in the past with a submariner replica. If you gently pull outward when it's not engaging does it engage? If this is the problem then the only solution is to swap in a new crown

Hmmmn, I tried it, and I'm unsure it's that. I'm unsure why, but it seems as if, when it doesn't engage, that if I spin the automatic winder thingy inside, then the manual one will work afterwards.
