GMT Batman. Which one?

I’ve been a long time AP owner and had many over the years. For some reason I’ve never had a Rolex until a friend bombarded me with pics of his growing collection.

I’ve decided to get my first Rolex GMT II Batman, but the question is which one? I’m used to buying from InTime and others and if it was AP I would know which factory to pic. With Rolex I’m clueless.

I see handstacks are corrected in the new versions but overall which model should I go for? I’m not looking to mod at the this stage so want a good rep, closest to gen, out of the box.

Thanks in advance!

I should also mention I did try to research but was left unclear on which is seen to be best. Thanks

GMF incorrect hand stack for my money.

IMO the chs version is not worth the increased risk of breakdown which will make your watch a paperweight. The stack of the hands is only visible when the gmt hand passes the hour hand, which is for 90 minutes in every 24 hours.

Cheers buddy. So the correct handstack version is a real reliability issue?

Also I’ve read around three factories:
GMF
Noob
ARF

Are the differences between them small or is one a stand out better job?

There are some good threads about this over on Repgeek. Overall, people seem to prefer the GMF, but GMF crystals stick out above the level of the bezel. All current reps seem to have this problem, but the GMF ones are the most prominent. It's my understanding this can be fixed, but it is a very obvious tell out of the box in my opinion. You should just compare the reps and decide which model has the inaccuracies that you can most live with. From my limited knowledge it seems the things to scrutinize the most are the crystal, bezel color, bezel number size and color, and rehaut engravings. Good luck ????.

Yes, I understand the chs movement is a bit of a timebomb, there are those who have had no problems and naturally people defend the choices they make as well.

It is true that the crystal sits a little high. But a lot of those observations are made on the basis that the crystal is flush on the gen - it isn’t - the gen crystal is about .3mm higher than the bezel, and the gen about .7mm.

I have the BLRO of this, and although the colours are a little bright in sunshine, its one of my favourites.

ARF do not have a GMT - there is a ‘waiting room’ thread on here somewhere which has been slowly going nowhere for 6 months.

Noob do have a GMT with chs and ichs versions, but the insert is terrible.

I love my GMF Batman. It's not perfect, not even close in fact, but it's a very nice watch. This was from a couple of days ago:

Hi

On the GMF would a gen xtal correct the height “flaw” or it is due to the case construction?

I initially wanted to go for the noob 116710LN ICHS swap the xtal and bezel/insert for gen ones but it’s no longer available according to TDs :(

Thanks
j.

I would stay on noob as for the case set.
factory recently made a disaster with gmt crownguards trying to replicate the latest gmt releases with a partially different(partially new compared to 116710) case. Noob is the only factory which is still selling the good old 116710blnr replica(no jubilee, no new dial, no awful submariner style crownguards).
very good case set.
as for the insert i believe bp is making the absolute best blnr at the moment.

In new gmt cases, bezel is thinner, glass sits slightly higher than before(maybe an homage to five digits world), crown guards have a totally different shape and also,
lug shape is different as for the angle, they’re slightly thinner too.
improvements that made the genuine gmt better looking and more proportionate now, hope the factories can make a 1:1 soon
