GMF VS JDF DayDates?

Hi,

I've read in many places that GMF, JDF, and even BP are essentially the same. The only difference is that BP only makes watches in 316L SS, compared to 904L with GMF and JDF.

Now, the real question is: what are the differences between GMF and JDF? Because I've noticed that on all TD websites, JDF watches seem to be of higher quality, with better finishing, etc.; or is it just me?

I want to buy the Day-Date 40, specifically the one in the links down below, but I really don't want the decorated 2836 version because it's just unnecessary weight on top of the movement and extra thickness that is not needed.

Can anyone confirm if those two are the exact same watches, with the decoration on the JDF being the only difference, or is there anything else that I'm missing?

Thanks in advance.

They should be exactly the same. As far as i know, some dealers(!) only changed the names on their listings after the raids.

Might be there were other changes afterwards but i doubt it.

Speaking from experience, i had a JDF datejust (two tone wrapped) and a GMF daydate yellowgold tungsten - and the build quality was the same. Very good dials, good crystal, bracelet was also surprisingly good. If i were to guess, those two watches came out of the same factory.
