Hi at all!

I want to share my last experience with you on a GMF DD RG Olive Dial.

I was out of the rep game for a long time, but now the feeling came back to me, so I wanted to buy a new watch. My holy grail was and is and will always be the fantastic DD in RG. Its so beautiful and to me, the definition of perfection. Everything is wonderful about that watch.

So I informed about the factories that are into DDs and I came to the conclusion that it will be GMF.

I placed order on

Day Date 40 RG 228235 GMF 1:1 Best Edition Green Roman Dial on President Bracelet A2836 V5 (Tungsten heavy version)

I try to describe my course of action as possible as it gets. Maybe you take something out of my post, that will help you in the future.

Firstly I take the watch out of the package and dont remove the stickers or protectors on the watch. I look closely and search for some damage on the watch.

Then I give it a good wind and test if its running correctly with another watch next to it (maybe for 5 minutes). I go through every day and date. And if this is all correct, I remove protection.

Now to the beautiful DD in front of me. I start with bracelet:

I think the time has come, where we dont need to worry about the bracelet. In my opinion its perfect. I had severel noob DDs back in the days and nothing relevant changed. Noobs were 316L , now 904L but you cant see a big change with your eye.

The engravings with the rolex logo could be a little more deeper compared to my gen DJ, but this is very fine to me. Nothing to beef around.

Now to the case: nothing to say about it. Just perfect in my eyes.

We come to the dial/daydate font window etc.

Love the dial colour and the sunburst grinding on it. The roman numerals are perfect aligned and very shiny. I like it a lot! The Rolex Oyster Perpetual bla bla font is perfectly printed and not just flat printed like on other watches. You can see that they used „colour“ and structure like on the gen. For me its 10/10

But…

There are three points on the watch that are very different to a gen.

  1. Bezel - Its not as high quality as the gen one. I have the white gold DJ. The light and reflections on this is are dancing. The structure is really sharp - On the GMF one you can easily tell that its a fake because the bezel has not the gen quality but for me it is okay
  2. Day font/ alignment - Its not centered in the middle of the window, in the horizontal and vertical way. The text sits too high and too near to the edge
  3. Magnifier is too shiny, hard to read it when you are at a sunny place

Overall my rating is 8/10. its just my personal opinion. Im very happy with my purchase!

Hope this post was helpful for your decision what you want for the watch or not
