GMF Day-Date 40MM

Hey guys,

I just received a day-date 40mm GMF with solid green dial. it's very close to my gen day-date romans with silver sunburst dial and i'm really impressed. a few notes, the bezel is a disaster, as well as the day and the date wheels. I'm satisfied with the dial itself.

I need to source a 41mm datejust bezel, a gen day wheel and date wheel. Is this feasible? can anyone point me in the right direction and who can help me with this? I honestly have no idea about the inner workings of these watches and I'm lost.

That is correct.

Your best source for gen parts for a DD will be TRF, or Ebay. They do not seem to come up often. Dials are more prevalent since gen buyers ditch them for iced out trash. You should also be able to find a bezel very easily. Some of these parts come up in the M2M sales area here.

I had a gen crystal fitted on my gmf dd40 without any problems.

As I recently acquired a genuine Day Date 228235 dial and bezel (your exact model) I can easily confirm: they are able to be installed on the GMF day dates.

So adding a gen bezel and dial/datewheel and date set would make this a very beautiful Franken, indeed.

However it should be noted: genuine day date wheels do NOT fit into GMF Tungsten watches!!!!

That is because all day dates do NOT have a 100% clone movement allowing for genuine DW parts to be installed yet.

I have a GMF DD40 Tungsten Rose Gold with Sunburst dial. I had the watch RG plated by flandad. I'm adding a gen crystal as well.

The sunburst dial has nice sunburst effect and the markers are straight. However, the color of the dial is off as compared to gen. I've been looking for a replacement dial (either green, like OP's, or chocolate), but they are hard to find M2M and my TD says they cannon source a dial-only right now from GMF. I am considering getting a custom dial made, but the cost is $500-$900.

I am curious to know what you guys don't like about the bezel. Was it the precious metal color, or the shape, or both? My RG color was for sure off, but after flandad plating, I am happy with it.

As for gen parts, mine is a 2836 movement, so I can't change any of the DW parts. My calendar wheel and DW are pretty straight and lined up. My rehaut is lined-up as well. Maybe I just got lucky.

I also have the GMF tungsten heavy model with the 2836 movement, it’s a good rep, the biggest flaws beside the weight obviously are the daywheel font is not of high quality, it’s to thin and not glossy enough. Same for the gloss on the datewheel but the shape and thickness is close to gen.
The bezel has the wrong shape, the ridges are to sharp.
The crystal could be better.
The gold color is a little off, not much but a little.

I would love to update mine with gen bezel, crystal, day wheel and date wheel

I’ve seen on the discussion that the day and date wheels don’t fit the movement, but couldn’t a skilled watch smith put the gen wheels as glued overlays?

It would be perfect with those mods, would love your input if it’s possible to use gen wheels as overlay?

Hey mate, If you're still looking in another couple of weeks I've got many DD40 / DJ41 Fluted Bezels available, Diamond Set / Solid Gold / Gold Plated and the normal Stainless Steel.
Watch Builder, many OEM parts available and AM from Gen builds going Frank and Frank builds going Partly Gen etc etc

hello good post for me.
i have lots of problems with this gmf DayDate.
it start with the strap first link broken. I try to find a new 21 mm strap on alix but impossible to put it. The spring bar is to close to the case.i finish with a rubber strap.
Next is the crown broke to. Trying to repair that I smashed the day and date wheel.
i would like to know where I can buy these parts?day date wheels and the particular thungsten strap?
