Ginault - Ocean Rover 2 - Opinions?

Have had these on my radar for a while and I wondered what owners/precious owners thought of them as part of a rotation? Are they worthy of the hype or are they just another submariner micro brand "homage"?

Build quality seems to be spoken of quite highly with a respect across the internet for it's in house regulated sellita movement. Always been a hand of the blade hands!

Am I kidding myself by being wrapped in the market hype or are they worth the punt for the money?

Fun fact, the man behind 5 digit TC subs is also behind Ginault. So maybe that should be some indication of the quality of Ginault

I searched and didn't find too much about Ginault watches. I kind of have an itch to try one but would like to hear from Ginault owners how they compare the watch to reps they owned? Plenty online about Ginault vs Rolex. I'm wondering if a Ginault is worth the extra cost or if a guy is better...

I don't own a Ginault so I can't contribute anymore but from what I've read they're geninunely good watches at that price point, maybe a little bit expensive for sure but for what it offers if you're used to "value" from replicas, but if comparing to genuine watches there's nothing quite like it at the price point (I mean a good glidelock-style clasp at sub 2k? The next best thing you're gonna get is the t-fit from Tudor lol). Hell I would put them squarely at and/or above CW.

Thanks for the input - I've had a few CW and although the build quality was excellent they just didn't quite do it for me. My rep collection is strong at the moment, lol, so looking to grab a gen watch next. The Ginault seems to be the one!

I've got an OR2 as well as the newer Silent Service. I'll be buying their next release as well I imagine (not announced yet). I love my OR2. My favourite watch (gen or rep). Quality is really excellent - as all the various YouTube reviews convey.

While the Ginault may appear to somewhat of a Rlx. homage, they are in fact extremely fine wristwatches with stellar craftsmanship.
The only model I've ever owned was the original OR1 prototype and it's one of the very few watches I regret not holding on to.

You won't regret purchasing a Ginault: extremely well built: especially for the price.

I almost bought a ND blue Smurf lume version like yours over the week, as there was one on Ebay. Mine is the date golden sands lume version. Ended up buying a Monta Triumph instead (second hand)!

My TC subs are a few years older I assume and they all have small niggles, winding, quick date, stiff bezel, ect.
Where as my ginault all feel rock solid. Not a single hiccup.

They are also not making the ocean rover at this time so if you think the value on the used market will go up maybe don’t wait too long.

After learning how expensive it is to put together a tritium franken sub, I recommend going with a ginault gold sand lume version.
It has a nice vintage feel.

I sold my TC yesterday on here (with gen crystal and gen insert) - was very close to trying to offer it up as a trade for a one of the OR2s with the blue bezel insert. I think they look fantastic.

I didn’t know that.
He had a few of one Color combo left but if he is taking orders again I’m very pleased.
