genuine Swiss 6497?

Actually, two things though that jump out at me.

If you look at the white faced one, the cannon pin is recessed, which is common with the Swiss 6497's, as they come with the smaller pin. If you look at the black faced monstrosity, he put some kind of a plug into the pin to make it look not recessed. It makes it look like shite. If you buy it, buy a taller cannon pin as well.

Yep, that's Homer, a rep dealer over on RWG2. If he says Swiss, it's Swiss. I dunno why they glued those ugly plates with the half-assed perlage on there, though. I think the plain undecorated bridges would have looked better!

LOL..oh man, I'm so glad I have you guys to back up stuff like this and to spot the things I don't...

SO, to sum up: it's a gen Swiss movt, but the canon pin cap looks rubbish and the movt has decorative plates on it that are literally just glued on tin bits?

This isn't seeming like the bargain I thought it was. I saw gen Swiss movt and thought it seemed like a reasonable price coming in under £200 already in a watch. The movt's alone seem to be around the £150 mark...

I just saw this and thought that it looked reasonably well finished, the CG especially looked tight against the case and had the flush pin. If anything it looks passably decent and could perhaps form the basis for a project...

Thanks for your help...and knowledge!

I mean, don't let the glued on decorated plates put you off. There's nothing wrong with them from a functional standpoint.

If you like it, buy it and have one of the modders put in a tall canon pin and swap in some DSN superlumed hands. Done deal.

Hooligan, now that's the sort of advice I appreciate...

So, other than the hands and dial, if I swapped the caseback for a solid one rather than a display, I guess the movt wouldn't make a difference to the appearance either. I love the idea of a Swiss movt in there.

Boy.. something does not look right with the canon pinion on that black one. It looks photoshoped or something.

I had a set of hands like those on the black dialed watch. There is a plug on the minute hand. I tried to remove it, then found out that the plug is what fits on the cannon pin, and the minute hand is attached around the plug. Bad design.

There is no such thing as a "Swiss Made" rep. There are Swiss movements. That's as good as it's going to get.
