Just a few days ago an ad appeared on the Panny boards about a user looking to sell a polished finished bezel for an 024. It seems the guy prefered the brushed finish and got himself a brushed bezel.
When I got my 024 I worked for hours polishing the bezel . The Panny experts know better but I guess some 024 versions had high polish bezel and later ones have brushed finish. I'm fairly skilled at polishing/finish work and got the bezel blingy, but never perfect.
So when this bezel was posted, the price was low enough to justify an experiment and i bought it. In the meantime I removed the old bezel to see how things worked. I attempted to put the old bezel back which was very tough to do.
So the new bezel arrived today and here are my impressions. First impression is that the rep bezel is a dead ringer for the gen. Look at the pix. Except for the finish they are the same. Ironically the gen fit better than the rep - it snapped on very easily. BTW, I've had problems aligning both the gen and rep bezels with the numbers. Anyone know how to do this?
The only other difference is the lume on the pearl. The pearls look the same but the gen has stronger lume. The other noticeable dif is that the gen has been used more than my rep and the engraved numbers are already fading.
Bottom line is that the gen bezel is a beaut but not significantly superior to the rep. Our reps impress me more and more.
