Yes, correct... but why?
We are always comparing a replica to a gen and point out flaws on replicas... I think it would be just as helpful to post pics of genuine models and point out why they are genuine ... etc..

People are so quick to point out "flared balance wheel" and not only consider it a replica, they also label it an asian movement.
So here, we have a very swiss, very genuine movement...
Anyone care to explain what makes this a genuine movement?

It all boils down to fit and finishes. The gen movement has real Glucydur balance wheel, more refined bevelling, look at the shock protector too and of course the Officine Panerai :)

Lot of tells...some that Taka pointed out, some not that instantly recognisable...like sunken jewels on bridges, nicer (much nicer) CDG deco, higher/thicker S/N neck wire as weel as the reg itself, bridge screws beveled holes, dimpled hairspring counterbalance etc...and it comes with a 100% gen caseback

...and sorry for my dry reply at first...just getting tired of the topic we covered number of times previuosly, that's all. 8)

A genuine Glucydur balance wheel is a non magnetic and non corrosive alloy,
Question: I can only assume that replica ones are not and can easily become magnatized?

Question: Why are the spokes on some balance wheels flared and others straight? My only assumption is that it as heavy of an alloy as berrylium is, it is to reduce weight?

Question: We see the Incabloc shock found here, but there are also novodiac shocks on ETA 6497-1 movements. Do Novodiac shocks appear on genuine movements that you know of?

Just so people know what we are talking about and easy comparison.. here is a Novodiac picture on an ETA 6497-1 borrowed from TZ..

No idea, honestly. I've got a couple of A6497 movements that are keeping really accurate time, so they can't be magnetized at the moment. Does that mean they never will? No clue...

Flared balance wheel spokes are indicative of a 6497-2 movement (which the A6497 is a copy of, but ALL "Swiss" rep movements are 6497-1), so my assumption is that it has to do with the higher beat-rate of the 6497-2.

Nope, not that I'm aware of. Perhaps some of the Pre-V or very early Vendome era movements did, but I've never seen any pics showing gen PAM movements with the Novodiac system.

Again, this IS a sign of an Asian movement, as the A6497 is a copy of the 6497-2 movement. It IS NOT a sign of a rep movement, per se, as we can see the gen, certainly Swiss, movement has it.

I have NEVER seen a Swiss 6497-1 PAM rep movement with the flared balance wheel, FWIW.
