Anyone who has experience with both the gen and rep strap - how do the both compare? Really eager to know. Thanks!

Pretty shit. But it doesn't mean rep bracelet is bad, still decent, but when you compare it's just plain bad.

Gen bracelet is much smoother and stretchier which makes it comfy to wear, as far as I'm concerned.

I have the ZF Pelagos. I think the bracelet is pretty fricken good. Smooth and the satin finish is beautiful. Maybe KW is different but I've never heard a complaint

I put the rep bracelet on my get and can barely tell the difference other than the screw heads and the stretchy setting (which I don't use). Finish and solid end link fit is almost identical.

That is great to hear. Thanks for your feedback!

ZF v2 owner here. Agree with everything that has been said.

Solid bracelet, good finish and overall good quality. Only downside is that the spring mechanism in the clasp isn't very smooth. But I was thinking maybe an oil bath could loosen this up.

I just received my ZF v2 yesterday, right off I noted the bracelet feel was less than desired. The spring mechanism seemed lacking as well. I took the time to do the usual olive oil bath that I do with all me rep bracelets. This morning the difference is remarkable. Im sure the fit is no where near to gen, but I wiped away a great amount of debris, dirt ect when I got it out. Everything about it seems 100% improved. Pretty satisfied with mine now. Hopefully this will help another member. Its totally worth the effort and I have never been displeased with the results.

Jack had a good question....one I take for granted sometimes so I will post here too. If you already do it great....if it helps ya out even better.
The question was about the oil bath I spoke of. Basically every rep I have received has had one thing in common, the bracelet was less than smooth. Here has been my solution, maybe it helps you too.
I remove the bracelet. Once removed I use an old tooth brush I have and some gel jewelry cleaner....dawn dishwashing liquid works well too. Using the cleaning agent and water I scrub the bracelet well all over, everywhere I can get. I always see dirt and grit come loose. Then rinse clear. I then use a cloth and dry as much as possible. Many times I see black or grit on the rag. When finished, I take a bottle of extra virgin olive oil and place a small amount in a bowl....enough to cover the bracelet. A little goes a long way folks. I submerge it well then take it out and work all the links back and forth plus the clasp. When Ive done this a few times I lay it in the oil submerged overnight.....give it time to soak.
Next day I take it out and work all the links and clasp again. Then using a clean rag or paper towels I dry it off trying to remove all of the oil I can. You will probably see black junk again on your cleaning cloth. When your done put it back on and enjoy.
Hope it helps....has worked well for me.

One other thing Jack.tr and I should have mentioned this too already....Im sorry, its kinda been a day lol. On the crown tube threads....lots of times mine feel gritty for lack of a better phrase. A trick Ive used is waxed dental floss. Take a piece and unscrew the crown, then when you pull it out to the last position, wrap the floss around the threads on the tube where the crown screws down. A few good rubs usually helps. Also...I have taken a toothpic and a tiny, tiny amount of vasoline on the tip and placed the tiny amount on the threads, screw the crown down and wipe away any access.....it really worked well on some of mine that felt gritty. Just dont use too ,much and get it into the tube lol. You will see what I mean when you try it, just takes a small amount.

coolrays615 Great advice mate. I basically use high compressed air for the crownthreads to clean them, but I'll give the floss a go too!

However, I did have one real issue lately. My SEL is a little bit wobbly and I think it's due to the size of the springbars. Do you have any idea what size would be best to have a solid fit on the Pelagos endlinks?

Jack.tr they look to be 20mm end pieces to me although I have not measured them....but they look like it. Let me ask this. When you have the bracelet off, placing the spring bar in the end piece does it seem loose inside it? Like the hole diameter is much larger than the spring bar? If thats the case you might look into getting new spring bars like 20mm fat bars which are a larger diameter than regular. Have a look at it and see if thats the case. If so, that may resolve it for you if you can get the fat bars to fit the end piece.
Have a chance to give the bracelet bath a try? Did it help? Hope so! These are amazing watches, Im really enjoying mine and the time keeping appears dead on after a couple of days.

coolrays615 I've now disassembled the SEL, and it look like the outer tips of the springbars have too much space in the sockets of the lugs, if that makes any sense. Also the springbar sits loosely in the SEL.

So these are 2 problems, the tips of the springbars are too thin and the springbar diameter in itself is too small. However I don't have any precise measuring equipment, so I would need to measure the springbars another time to see what size would fit the best.

The Bracelet bath is the first thing on my to-do list in the weekend. I will definitely keep you updated!

Jack.tr understood. Could be just a bad set of spring bars....these are reps ya know. But if there is space inside the lug then the far bar may be the cure. Spring bars are pretty cheap....if I was doing it Id prolly order a set of both and try them. Makes sense?
