I've got an unusual job that is 'given' on a 5 year renewable contract. I've just been told my contract is being renewed for the third time. To celebrate this 'guaranteed' income stream I decided to treat myself to a new watch, any excuse eh?

What to get, Well my budget was only £1000 so that limited my choices, I already have a special Pilots watch and several, unusual(ish) Limited Editions but keep looking longingly at Divers watches. After much debate I decided on the Oris Divers 47mm 'monster' with the small seconds and date. As I've got a liking for orange on black the colour choice was easy.

Where to get it? I had intended to buy it from JuraWatches, only to discover they were out of stock, my local Goldsmiths in Canary Wharf had one but it seemed to be the showroom 'whore' and they didn't have another. I called Austin Kaye in the Strand and was put on hold whilst they checked their delivery.

So on Saturday I became the proud owner of a brand new, never been worn,47 mm diver, and to cap it all AK were giving away a free Rapport watch winder worth £265 with every new Oris or Fortis...Result !!(well, actually the winder was DOA, however I've now had it swapped).

I've only managed to get one 'reasonable' picture so far, so here you are:

Good time to get a deal these days. 47mm, what's it like on the wrist?

Not too bad, the caseback is steeply curved and the strap lugs extend down and round so it hugs the wrist, It doesn't waer any bigger than my PAM 111H rep, and it wears smaller and better than the Graham Diver rep as well.

Great choice, Rob! Oris watches are huge "bang for the buck" timepieces, IMO.

Well done!
