Hello,

I want to confirm if my grey market daytona purchase is genuine. I bought it from a dealer in the LA jewelry district, who sourced it new from an AD (sale date June 1, 2024). He seems trustworthy, but it is my first purchase with him so I want to verify the authenticity myself. I called all the Rolex ADs in my area and none provide authentication services. The Rolex service center also closed down in my area. The only way to verify aside from shipping to a Rolex Service Center (according to the AD), would be to get your Rolex serviced. If it is a fake, they will refuse to service it. Would you suggest going to an AD service center and make up an issue with the watch (ex: the chronograph function isn't working) to see if they will take it in and check it out? Since them accepting service constitutes a genuine Rolex....

Appreciate any and all input :)

There should be a serial number, both on watch and paper. It's unique, so you can check it. If you post pictures of the watch, the veterans here can confirm if it's legit.

Control It asap, if you bought from a known Jeweller it shouldn’t be fake. And if it is you can return it without any issue if it is a professional

This thread is the equivalent of having your arm shot off and going to the ER and asking a surgeon 'hey, do you know a place that can reattach my arm'. 😆

Dude, you are at the ultimate center of the watch authentication universe. 😂🤦

Idiot Facepalm GIF

If there's a place that can legit check your Rollie only via a photo, then it's definitely RWI!

We have the experts with incredible skills and expertise to help you. All they need are good photos with decent lighting and sufficient resolution. 😉

Haha I appreciate the analogy. I do believe it is Gen but also want to make sure that the dial is stock and not replaced with a different Gen dial.

Aren't all these checks and balances things we do BEFORE purchasing ?
What would you suggest doing? They have to ship it in so can't view before....just pictures. Who knows if they changed something on the inside? Only other way to verify is with serial number, but again who knows if they did something to it....

Fair point, I imagine this kind of dial swap is feasible to increase sales price. Which I guess takes us back to the old ‘buy the seller’ that only now makes sense to me.

I don't understand this... why would someone swap out a Gen dial for another Gen dial. Also I thought at the beginning of this thread that you were thinking the whole watch was fake? That's easy, even for a novice.... remove the case back and check out the balance, even on the best rep the balance will give it away.

Because some dials are worth more than others.....Steel Daytona white dial (panda) is worth more than steel daytona with black dial. I think the watch is legit, just want to be 100% sure by opening the back or confirming with Rolex

Collectors care about which dial it was issued when sold by Rolex. Which is why people want the white tag that comes with the watch to verify the original dial.

I have no word to even address this comment. I wonder how some people function in everyday life.

Exactly, why after the fact. First thing is buy the seller not the watch. If you don’t trust the seller 100% buy it from somewhere else. At this point for your peace of mind take it to an independent jeweler who services rolex and have them open it up and remove the band to get the serial number. Best bet.
