Gen or Rep? I just can't tell..

Dear RWI members,

A friend of mine sent me some pictures of a Panerai watch, and wants to know if it's a gen or a rep.. I compared the pictures with some pictures on TD's sites, and I think it's a PAM177, considering the fact it says 'Titanium' on the back. Also I think the movement is placed upside down compared to the real ones.. He won it with a contest from Chrono24, a site where they sell second hand watches.

Any help would be appreciated !

Kinda looks like a Rep to me, the Incabloc on the Movement isn't a Y-Incabloc

lug shape totally wrong
lume is too green
Crown guard lever shap totally wrong
101% fake , frankly, this is lower grade REP

by the way what contest on chrono 24 ?
i bought and sell several watches from them and im sure they only allow gen there.
so im quite sure that this watch are not coming from there.
cause this is very bad rep .

You're right, I just got a message from him saying it was direct from a dealer or something, I don't have enough info about that.. I personally thought this was one of the better reps from Noob factory, but it seems I was wrong ;-) I'll give him all the details and I'll also ask him where he got this watch exactly from.

You can sell anything on Chrono24, there's as many scammers and reps being sold as gen as eBay. Always do your own research and buy the seller, not the watch.

The blue color of Officine Panerai on movement looks like it was applied with a blue marking pen....awful!!
Crystal, hands, movement, strap all scream "Bad Rep".
OP, we would all like to know the origin of this watch since you are now recanting that it came from Chrono 24.
Many of us peruse the Gen sites, and if someone is dealing in bad reps, and passing them off as Gen, we would certainly like to know.
Please update us on the details. Thanks

Interesting thread for newcomers to Panarai.
Just wish that people would refrain from useless posts like "obvious rep" with no qualification.

If it is that obvious, it should also be possible to list the tells, as some posts have done. THAT is useful information.

I'm guessing your friend is using the Chrono 24 giveaway as a cover story - didn't want to admit bought a rep, and a bad one at that.

I asked him, but got a very confusing response; he said Chrono24 wasn't part of this whole story, and he won the watch via a social media site from a group of dealers, and from those dealers one or more were said to be active on second hand sites to buy/sell watches, and he 'heard' one of those sites was Chrono24..

All in all I told him it's a bad rep, and told him to keep it instead of selling it, so he won't bother anyone else with this rep ;-).
