I only recently got into reps and really kinda focused on Rolex. Now, I have a SMPc and PO Tai Chi GMT on the way. My question is do people sub in gen parts for Omegas like they do Rolex frankens? I have a gen PO 45.5 8500 that I recently did a full service on. I got a bunch of the parts back that that were replaced as part of the full service that are in good to phenomenal shape. Crown, HE escape valve crown, crown tube, hands, etc. Can I throw these on the 43.5 PO? Should I sell them? Is the market value similar to gen Rolex parts?

There have been a few Omega frankens. They were much more popular in the old day with the old generation Planet Oceans,

The new ones... not so much.... in fact I don't know if these gen parts will fit the 43.5mm VSF one, I haven't seen much threads about it.

You can throw them up for sale and let the market decide but I think it will not be such a hot sale. (contact moderators first and try to feel out an appropiate price for them but I think they will not go for so much)

See there's 0 relevant threads on google when I bring up the search

Yeah thats kinda what I figured...that gen parts aren't nearly in demand, especially since Omega gives you the parts when theyre replaced with a full service, which decreases their scarcity on the 2nd hand market. I don't know if Rolex does that.

I dont have a lot of confidence on movemebt parts, but Im fairly certain stuff like the crown and hands can be mounted on a rep somehow. Be nice to keep them around for nostalgia, if I end up selling the gen (which I'm contemplating). Thank you!

As Reaps mentioned, gen parts are in higher demand for the older generations. I.e., 2201.50.00, 2200.50.00, and the 222.30.42.20.01.001.

If you own a gen, then, as you said above, parts are replaced during service, as they generally do a full case kit replacement (crown and tube, HE valve and crown, bezel spring, and the older aluminium bezel if the existing one is scratched (optional). So you end up with spare parts, although the crown and tube threads may be a little worn. Luckily, the HE valve parts and crown and tube parts are the same on all three of those references, so I have spares for my Franken 2201.50 or the stock standard 222.30.42 after my 2200.50 was serviced. I'll keep them for as long as I own both of those reps in case they're needed. The crown and tube (threading) seems to be the Achille's Heel of the PO, and new ones, if you can get them, are expensive.

If I ever need more, I'll just remove the gen's ones and take my watch to my ASC and say they fell out. Replacements through servicing is cheaper than places like swisswatchparts.

Great info, thank you! Sounds like the best bang for the buck for me ($0) would be for me to use them on my rep PO GMT.
