Gen crystal in 5th gen po?

Has anyone done this mod recently. I'm reading conflicting reports on whether to use gen or rep gasket?

gen gasket doesn't fit rep crystal, not sure if you can use it with a gen crystal

I have gen crystal and gen gasket. Unfortunately I can't find the rep gasket anymore!

Rep gasket is the way to go unfortunately, although I was sure I saw a thread somewhere where somebody made the gen gasket fit, but can't find the thread. It seems you are not the only one looking for a rep gasket, over on rwg there is someone looking for one. A couple of dealers might help if you cant find one.

I don't understand, it you take out a rep crystal to put in a gen, isn't the rep gasket attached to the rep crystal? So why not just use the rep one that is already in the watch? I've never done one, so I could be misunderstanding how the gasket fits.
