Gen crystal difference

Hey, can somebody tell my whats the big difference by changing the crystal to a gen, for example on noob or arf models?

Depends on model. On some models the magnification is just not right and even if it is the black hole effect and Overall quality of the crystal is far superior to most rep crystals

Another option would be getting a Prof crystal. It's supposed to be the best after gen yet AR tends to get scratched over time as there is one layer on the surface

The biggest difference is actually not the "black hole" effect, which can be achieved using prof's xtal. The gen xtal has a more silvery reflection on certain angle, while on other angle is VERY clear. Also, the edge of the gen xtal is polished slightly differently - shinier & nicer. However, most people may not appreciate the subtle differences, but nonetheless they are what contributes to the "gen" aura that many of us long-timers here do appreciate.

Gen ar can not and has never been replicated to look gen . So you cant get a true black hole with a rep xtal.and prof xtals are not close to gen black hole and dont have the correct levels or shine..also the gen xtal shines and sparkles.and reflects crazy amounts of light.also the edges are diffent so you dont get the ugly minute tick reflection from the dial onto the xtal edges.like you do with most rep xtals including prof xtals

Lastly the gen xtal has a thick translucent uv glue border around all edges of the cyclops.this makes the date pop even more looks like a white ring.this has never been replicated on rep xtals either

I was gonna mention the lec laser etched crown on the xtal but the gen xtals are coming with visible lec now like the reps habeholder gen xtals from last year the lec was invisible.and the rep xtals could not get this correct.now rolex are making it easier for the rep makers by making the lec visible to the naked eye easily .and changing the rehaut engraving to the single line like the reps always had.and changing the bezel teeth to the same as the reps .

So rolex are and have been definitely downgrading their watches over the last few years
