LOL, I read 12,00 $ as the comma is our decimal separator here :) I'd have taken a gen dial for 12 $ any day :D

Plus he has gen dealer clocks. Bigcrown use to sell a lot of rolex parts if I'm not mistaken. I've bought some stuff off him. He is the one who will be making the new sapphire crystals out of coramid (or something like that). Its the same material that gen crystals are made out of and will be oem spec.

Well, given that a gen 201/A watch will go for $30K+, $12K seems about right...

Anyone else thinking that dial looks different to every other 201a they've ever seen?
The numbers look too thin to me - looked at tons of 201a pics and can't find a gen that looks like that.

Hooligan - dials aren't normally a 3rd of the price of a total watch or at least they aren't in my experiance.

Yes, the indices are thin. I believe I've read some things on 'Risti about some of the dials coming from a different manufacturer with thinner indices. I'm betting they were all replacement dials, or perhaps this was a prototype/pre-production dial? I'll have to see if I can dig up that thread again.

Well, for a Pre-V watch, I think that ratio is probably right. The dials are the biggest draw...

The numbers look thicker under the crystal bc it somewhat magnifies it.

These aren't going for 30k...more lke 60k. Which is about right. A gen 111h costs 4xxx and a gen dial costs 500o-700. And consider how rare and how many peoples grail this is. I think the price is spot on.

No, I think this dial is actually using thinner indices, COLDI. Magnification would just make them look bigger, overall, so the appearance as a whole would remain the same.

I'm not doubting it's a gen dial, I just think it's an odd-ball gen from a different run of dials, or perhaps a different dial maker.

This is ridiculous. It's a piece of plastic god damn it, what makes this more valuable than any other dial out there? 90% of them are made of the same material, made by the same machines, made using the same methods etc etc. It's crazy how just a little piece of plastic can be worth so much money when probably not even 99.999999% of the paneristi are able to tell this from FGD's dials. And why would ANYONE spend so much money on, again a piece of plastic, and stick it into a rep case with rep caseback with rep hands, all worth 100 bucks?...it's mind bottling!!! Yeah yeah I know, I lot of people on paneristi will give arm and leg for it but somehow I don't see this selling there either. It just doesn't make sense to me. Even if you have a gen pam, you would take it apart and stick that dial in there? And then go and try to look for a caseback bla bla bla. All that for what? To fool yourself you just turned a 4k watch into a 60k? Or is it to fool the other 0.000001% people on this planet that actually know what they're looking at? Isn't that all there is to making a PAM 111h per say, into a 60k 201/A. Is there anything in this watch (201/A) apart from dial and caseback that is different to a 111h for example? As much as I love the look of Panerai, I just can't put my mind to why these extraordinary prices are going around. I know probably all hell will brake loose on me right now so I better go hide!

Agreed 100%, QQ. You negate the "value" of the dial the minute you put it into anything other than a genuine Pre-V case.

Also, trying to sell a $12K dial on a rep forum - where people can't or won't spend that much on entire watches, as a rule, is likely an excercise in futility.
