Hi guys, I ask the watchmakers or experts of the community, I replaced the CF crystal on my 116520 with a new gen one, and I left the CF gasket (I learned at my expense that on 116500 you have to leave the cf gasket because the gen is too thick..).
I'm deciding to also change the bezel with an original one (or xing), in this case could I mount the original gasket? Or do I always have to leave the cf gasket?
thanks in advance for the answers

What do you mean the gen is too thick?
Ive installed countless gen cystals and gen gaksets on CF Daytonas with no issues.

Reusing gaskets may introduce water tightness issues as well.

Previously, with the 116500 I broke the ceramic bezel because the gen gasket is thicker than the CF one.
In fact, on this forum they explained to me that exchanging the glass, keeping the CF bezel, requires also keeping the CF gasket.

Unfortunately, I do not recall which factory my 1165xx clones came from (I think they were from different factories), but both were replaced with gen xtals & I reused all of the clone parts without problems. Although I never wear my watches in water, both tested above gen watertightness spec (3 bar).

It is important that the bezel is too tight to press on by hand (which means the crystal-to-case interface is NOT sufficiently sealed), but not so tight that it cannot be installed with a proper press and moderate pressure.

However, as mine have metal bezels, my experience may not apply.

That isn't really true.
I've done many ceramics as well, and what they don't mention is putting a tiny amount of silicon grease on the inside of the bezel goes a long way. Its also important you are using a quality press and dies to install it back on.

Never had any issues...

I wanted to know if I can use gne gasket also using gen bezel

So if I wanted to install the gen bezel in the future, I could use the gen gasket

The only way to know for certain is to either ask CF or measure the parts on YOUR watch & see if they match the gen parts. If they do, then your watch is a true clone & the gen parts are interchangeable. If not, then you will have to decide whether the dimensional differences are within your tolerance for chance.

Based on my gen parts swaps, both of my 1165xx Daytonas are clones, but my 116710LN GMTII 'clone' is not -- some gen parts fit, others do not. You can read my thread detailing the frustrating problems I had trying to fit a gen crystal/gasket onto my GMT 'clone' (I was finally able to get it done, but it took alot of work & it took far too much pressure to install the bezel than is reasonable or safe).

ok, but by mounting both glass, crystal and bezel, the tolerances of the grn gasket should be correct
