Just before going to sleep (je me coucherai moins con ce soir) :

1/ what is the diffrence between G & H series (not the the sandwitch dial), is it year models ?
2/ PVD models were only limited editions models ?

it depends

for some watches, no change. for others, slight changes in font, dial, crown guard (many went to large, brushed crown guards in the historic line). for others, drastic change: 111G has sausage dial while the h and i are sandwich.

and yes, the a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, and now i are the year models for vendome panerais.

regarding pvd, they were offered as regular series watches early on (e.g., 4a, b and preV) but later discontinued with 195 being the last pvd watch offered (f series special edition, circa 2003).

hope this helps, mate.

That's great info, dude. Now my curiousity is on the latest 'i' series... Understanding 'h' series are mostly upgraded with sandwich dials, but what about the 'i' series? Any thing changed from the 'h'?

again, it depends on the particular watch

for some, the number produced changed.

for others, there are conjectures - like the 000 and 005 supposedly have more carefully, crisply painted dials.

i haven't noted changes in the models i keep an eye on (historic luminors and radiomirs). there may be significant changes in the contemporary line (i know some new models were added like the 221).

Between G & H, the movement decoration changed too I believe.

G movements have PANERAIPANERAIPANERAIPANERAI print
H movements are just smooth without the print.

Which enjoyment to get up more intelligent this morning :D
So, if i have well understood, if i would like to by one topday in an AD, only i & h will be available.

For instance if i take a 111, i have not the choice between 2 version : the g is no more available (2004 model)

that's probably correct

very unlikely a 111g would be lingering at any AD, brand new.

h maybe, more likely i will be there only.

the movement and thick crown brushed crown guard on the h is amazing (i have a gen of this watch, h series). the sandwich dial is a matter of taste. i like it a lot, especiall up close it's more interesting to me. others prefer the old sausage/painted dial of the g series which "pops" out a bit more from a distance. that's why you can't just have one panerai. they are like potato chips...or should i say pomme frites?

Pomme Frites? Don't you mean Freedom Fries??

My GF of 6 years is French. She once made me leave a resturaunt because they had Freedom Fries (and not French fries) on the menu :(

Thank god they stopped with that stupidity. What was next? Freedom toast, Freedom cuffs, Freedom Cleaners??

Getting back to the orginal question, each model also has different changes. A change in the Luminor line for example does not mean the same change will be made to the Radiomir line. I.E. the PAM111 "H-series" may have a sandwich dial, but that does not mean every other "H" has a sandwich dial.

The changes over the years have been small, but significant. Adding to the trouble of making a "perfect" rep.

The issue with many reps out there is using the wrong parts or mismarked parts on the the wrong series. Such as a "G" case back with an "H" dial. Or a "G" crown guard on an otherwise perfect "H.
